Does anyone here smoke it? My mom's getting me a pipe (not for pot) for my birthday/christmas present. I've only had pipe tobacco in some cheap cigars before, and wondering about its qualities such as taste, how fast it burns, and some good brands to start off with. I smoke about a half pack of cigarettes everyday, and know you're not suppose to inhale pipe smoke, so how is the nicotine buzz comparison?

my step dad let's me smoke pipes. I've got 5. Most of the tobacos are meant for the flavors but sum r just meant for the buzz like really cheap stuff but I recoment dunhill nightcap for flavor and buzz (very strong, and good for mixing with weed. But first get down the tequniqu of pack the bowl, must different than weed.

dunhill is decent, but if its available mclelland's frog morton is a bit better, in my opinion. a richer tobacco than most of the dunhill tins i've smoked. nightcap is good, but i prefer durbar or my mixture #965 if i'm getting a tin of dunhill.

mclelland's is pretty common, too, so its not something too hard to find.

if you aren't ready for some of the more fullbodied english blends, i'd recommend a tin of winding road, a tobacco made by ashton (ashton also makes some of my all time favorite cigars) its very lightly aromatic and smells really nice, tastes really nice, and is mild and slightly sweet...but the tobacco is still very apparent, nothing overwhelming about the aromatic side of it....however very mild, and you aren't likely to get much nicotine at all really.

make sure you dont puff too hard or too much, or the pipe will burn really hot and the smoke will burn your tongue. just chill, and relax, and puff gently....it took me a bit to learn how to smoke a pipe properly, and it was easy for me to get discouraged, but now its very, very pleasant and enjoyable. i just wish it was warm out so i could open my windows and smoke in my apartment! i'm not gonna sit outside to smoke for 45 minutes, and i'm not gonna hotbox my room with pipes and cigars!

jrcigars is, as the name would imply, mostly concerned with cigars, and they often have really good prices and good deals. but they also carry some pipe tobacco, though their inventory isnt as extensive as with the cigars.

    http://www.jrcigars.com/index.cfm?page=pipes

mcclelland is under the "domestic" category, and the blend i've tried and really like is called frog morton, and its about 10 bucks for 100g, which is a normal price for it.

dunhill is under the imported tobaccos, and jr has good prices for tins of dunhill. the exact same stuff goes for 9-12 bucks at nearly every other brick and mortar or online tobacco shop i've seen. jr has them for 6.75 for a 50g tin, making it still more expensive than the mcclelland.

a good resource for learning about different pipe tobaccos is www.tobaccoreviews.com

a lot of people start with corncob pipes, but i've never smoked from one and can't say what its like.

i hear they are not made to last at all, though, but they are easily replaced since they're so cheap.

i guess its not a bad call.

look around for some sites with tips on smoking pipes and how to pack the bowl and stuff. i know they exist, but i can't think of any of the top of my head

    corncob pipes are good
but you gotta def take it slow
mine tends to get hot really fast
but its been awhile since ive smoked pipe tobaccos since ive gotten a better hookup for bud
all i have i believe is some vanilla stuff thats harsh and tastes like crap
if i start slowing down with the ganj though ill prob pick up a tin of something recommended by the owner of the smoke shop at the mall
all im really looking for is something with a good taste so i assume they will know whats good

I smoke pipes about a fourth of the time I smoke. I get weird looks because I'm just 18 years old smoking a pipe.

Well I believe I might try the frog morton brand, as there are alot of positive reviews on it. Might be alittle mild, but I can deal with that starting off. Thanks again my friend, tobaccoreviews is very helpful.
