Metallica, Slayer, Pantera or Megadeth?

Everybody knows Black Sabbath rules every metal band anyway

 

Ozzy can't even rule over his tv remote anymore. Poor guy.

 

Well, Ozzy isn't Black Sabbath, just like Metallica isn't Metallica anymore.

 

Regardless of the "official reasons" behind it, if Black Sabbath only tours under Black Sabbath with Ozzy, he's a pretty big part.

Although Metallica is still Metallica, they're just not writing good music anymore.

You've got a failed comparison in my opinion...

 

Nowadays Metallica isn't the Metallica I used to like, so in that way it's a different Metallica. I don't like them anymore because my taste changed, they changed.
Ozzy is a big part of Sabbath indeed, I dig them with Ozzy and without. Ozzy without Black Sabbath isn't really interesting to me. Although I enjoy some solo stuff (mainly from Blizzard of Ozz and Diary of a madman).

tell me about it. the last ozzfest i went to i was surprised to see that he could remain standing.

 

all these bands are good in different ways. but if i had to choose, i would choose Pantera cuz they really let loose

 

I used to be a huge Metallica fan, but lately they have lost their touch to me. Now I would say the order would go:

-Pantera
-Megadeth (not saying they are better than Metallica, but I got sick of them and now listen to Megadeth)
-Metallica
-Slayer

Megadeth by far!

Metallica was only good very early, Pantera and Slayer were/are great, but in my opinion just don't come close to Megadeth. Dave Mustaine is a genius.

Black Sabbath introduced the world to metal...Judas Priest brought a melodic personalization to the scene....Iron Maiden upped the tempo and tightened the sound into a precision not yet heard....Metallica along with Mustaine culminized all of the above into a new generations voice....Metallica coined there sound thrash...but wait!!!! Isn't Thrash supposed to have a Punk background as well...Doesn't thrash have to add the Sex Pistols into the mix....hence....MUSTAINE (Megadeth)...THE true founder of THRASH METAL and IN MY OPINION...NOBODY has surpassed Mustaine in this genre' to this day.



I've seen ALL of the bands listed MANY times ('cept Pantera only once) MUSTAINE rules my world and puts on a great show..Metallica has always put on an outstanding show but the only band to intice riots I've seen first hand is Slayer...Slayer (in my view) sucks with exception of Seasons in the Abyss but they are killer in concert. You would never understand the intensity and chaotic "buzz" in a place unless you have actually been there.

As for the "wars" that have gone on in this thread about "this guy can outplay that guy etc....Mustaine clearly has the most complexity...no doubt about it. He is also a stellar rhythm player but lets not overstate his talent as a guitarist....he's awesome no doubt but compared to who? Marty Friedman was probably his most talented because the guy has unbelievable range. My favorite of all of his guitarists would easily be Chris Poland who has a sound not duplicated anywhere by anybody....NOBODY can duplicate his sound and he's gots the chops to hang with about anybody too. Kirk Hammet is not even in these guys' league...not even Mustaines but Kirk Hammet has a couple of things going for him...#1 he is the only cool guy in Metallica and his solos/riffs do in fact have soul to them. Some of THE most talented guitarists can shred their asses off but if they cannot convey feeling to the listeners ear...it means nothing. As stated...MUSTAINES my man and an incredible guitarist but my attraction to him is his talent as an overall musician...he's an authentic artist....it is said that Beethoven was so incredibly talented because the man understood every emotion.

And everybody knows Metallica rocks, esp. the black album. I don't like their new one though.

Dime's solos are way more complex and creative than Mustaines.

Dime is also a "stellar" rhythm player, ect ..
