So you 2 (posts 17&19) would say that even if this idea WERE possible, and could greatly reduce or eliminate the risk of cancer and other smoking-related diseases, it would be stupid?

Sure it would be just frickin great if every person in the world just decided they didn't ever want to smoke again...but a great many people do. As is their right.

wouldnt it be easier to just not smoke? that idea just seems silly to me... like trying to work out the best way to stop bleeding after you stab yourself... just dont smoke if you're worried about cancer..

i cant think of anything that tar could be broken down into that would be good.

    Yeah you're probably right...but that's why it's a hypothetical.

    Me too
Smokers dont have a right to health because theyre the ones destorying their own health, also the health of everyone who happens to be around them! This often includes babies, children
The world has bigger concerns than spoon feeding people consciously harming themselves and others when its so easy to quit and theres so much support
Also the invention would just encourage smoking, as in "oh it can just be fixed if i get too ill"
I dont want that. I want people to stop
If they wont stop they can go somewhere quiet and smoke away happily, but theyre CHOOSING to kill themselves

Sure, the invention might be good for older people whove realised they should stop smoking but also have major health problems from before. But it wouldnt end there, everyone would get it, theres no clear distinction and also even for them, they may be tempted to smoke again

how would this protect nonsmokers from the carcinogenic effects of second hand smoke? that's actually the much bigger problem then smokers killing themselves. precisely because of it's nonvoluntaryness, while the smokers themselvs are, aside from that the're addicted to it, have choosen to.

if you have to have something in your mouth to walk arround with all the time, why not something like those chewtoys for dogs, only in yummy flavours for humans? mabye like jerkey only tougher so it last a lot longer?
