I'M Gypsy Joe, hanging for a real good minute in St. Pete, FL. i've been back here for three months and will stay for another three or four before moving on again. for the remainder of my stay, i'll be moving into the new "tent city" project. i'm doing this for a couple reasons but, to just get my point down on the table i'll tell you about the vision/hope i have for this newly developed homeless community. Pinellas Hope is an interfaith-based homeless community compound recieving help/donations/aide from local churches, a few concerned citizens.... AND VERY LITTLE HELP FROM OUR LOCAL GOVERNMENT. not only am i attempting to secure a spot in the area to pitch my tent and live, i have filed an online application with a cover email to the necesary contacts to volunteer in the running of this thing. in further reading i was able to download a calender showing the dates that certain churches had marked as serving and cooking. now, keep following me here.... i'm with a group right now that attends sufi zikrs once a week and it's a very close group. each week a different friend in the circle makes a dinner for all who attend and we go to thier house after our chanting and grub together and play music. i want to find a way to bring that sort of vibe/energy into this interfaith homeless community because i feel that the homeless in general are not very disciplined in thier actions, thoughts, words, habits. it's very easy for an effort such as tent cities to fail simply because of the reputations misconduct brings to peoples minds. and also, if you consider how positions or offices on the higher end of these things go, it's very easy for certain methods to be used to lower EVEN FURTHER the standard of living that we, in general, have for our homeless. i guess if you wanted to, you could suppose that i'm trying to infiltrate the workings of the Pinellas Project but, the plain idea about it really is just that, i'd like to be a focalizer for a movie to help feed a homeless encampment one night a week. we have a good number of friends in our circle but, really just a couple that could undergo such a feat as preparing dinner for 250 people. if there is any Family in this forum that is close enough to the Tampa area that could lend a hend in feeding these people once a week, please contact me ASAP. even if you can't supply a car of people to help, FOOD IS STILL HELPFUL!!!! maybe someone out here is part of a church pantry in the tampa bay area, ya never know! my cell number is (801) 471-1156 www.myspace.com/gypsyjoe PEACE AND LOVE Y'ALL!! I hope to see a lot of you elders around main circle at the Ocala gathering '08. we need you to atleast try to give us your guidance and wisdom once again. I LOVE MY FAMILY!
