No vegans dont eat honey, as it comes from a bee. And a bee would be classified as an animal I suppose :p So, no, we dont.

And on yer bread... hmmm. Besides stuff made for vegans, theres really not much to put on your bread. But soy butter is pretty good, if you buy Willow Run.

I wasn't aware that I have been talking in an "enraged" tone. Sure you don't need to take English classes?

And it seems a bit.. hmm.. "asshole-ish" of you to imply that all meat eaters are fueled with rage.

Just drop it, both of you.

    So anyway, honey.
Nope it's not vegan, exploits bees or something like that.
As for alternatives; Jam/jelly, peanut butter, marmite/vegmite. There are probably more too.
Maple, corn, or Golden syrup are good subsitutes.

    Peace Peace

I do not eat dairy ...anymore at least because I am lactose intolerant...and i hate eggs anyway...I bought a nice egg replacement made vegan french toast the other day which was yummy! But as for honey I eat that...my choice though...Even if its not the vegan way. There are so many technical terms for the vegetairian now adays. Like if you do not eat red meat or pork you are a semi-vegetarian. or if you do not eat eggs you are an Ovo vegetairian or if you do not eat just dair you are an Lacto Vegetairian...Combined if you eat honey then I guess would be Lacto Ovo Vegetairian and then Vegan if you just stick to the plant family. Then there is the raw fruititairians who do not eat cooked vegetables above a certain degree...and I am sure there is more...

    How'd the topic get a 5 star?!?

Well yeah there are poultry vegetarians, and pesco vegetarians ( don't even know why they're conscidered vegetarians...Fish and poultry are meat!If you like it or not! It's muscles and fat from a living creature!!)

And did you know that incas always leave some honey in the hive, so that the bees will survive?killing the queen kills the hive too.

Anyways, continue with your answers, I'm still curious!

I don't see a point in using honey... it's not like it's a necessity... you can live without it.. and milk (other than soy), eggs, meat... :p We're living proof.

I'm not the one who started it
Lmao, and even if I did, which I'm not saying I did, Mike should have acted in a more mature manner, dont you think? I mean hes always bragging about his age, and how mature he is compared to me. NEW SIG TIME!

And I promise thats the last time I'll ever talk about Mike, unless he attacks my religion again.

how they are treated or not shouldnt matter. your taking from the bees. justify it how you want but the plain simple truth is its not vegan.

honey is made by a bee, not milked from a bee like a cow is milked. it is the nectar of flowers that is mixed with water in a bee's mouth and used as food for raising new bees. modern bee keeping practices have eliminated alot of diseases that harm bees and have greaatly increase a hives capacity to keep its bees alive. there is very little in the bee industry that harms bees. even if a few are killed during honey harvest, thousands more are kept alive by beekeepers that would normally die.

    Link from vegetus: http://www.vegetus.org/honey/honey.htm

Personally, I'm Vegan, and I don't eat honey. I choose not to eat honey simply because honey is a product that bees make for their own benefit, not mine. If it's okay to take honey from the bees, then it becomes that much easier to take eggs from chickens and milk from cows, and we end up with the cruel reality of factory farming. Every small justification makes the next, larger, justification just a little easier.

Now, that isn't to say that I'm going to condemn honey-eating Vegans as hypocrites or not "real" Vegans. We're all doing what we can to reduce animal suffering, and not eating animals is the biggest step you can take to reduce animal suffering: http://www.veganoutreach.org/advocacy/path.html
