I've been looking for mg scales, and have found out that most are outrageously (is that a word?) expensive..

I've found one at a 100 bucks, though, but is it accurate enough?

Please post your thoughts/comments, and maybe what kind of scales you've got?

The one i found is this one: http://www.americanweigh.com/product_info.php?cPath=22&products_id=580

I got the "proscale precision 10 " from Canadaweigh.com. If you read this page http://www.canadianweigh.com/scales/low-cost-diamond-scale , it offers the 20, and the 10 versions. The 10 is accurate to .001g, and the 20 is accurate to .002g, but only has a 10g max whereas the 20 is 20g. I got my scale in the mail last week. Overall the "fit and finish" is cheaper feeling and looking, but the function of the scale is awesome, you breath on the thing and it picks it up. Makes me think that it's so well priced cause they cheaped out making it look all fancy, but put good components under the cheap shell.

The site was honest and said that sometimes they noticed .002ct tolerances compared to there 300$ scales...in my testing I noticed more like .001-.002g occasionally and I'm fine with that. I'm thinking if I turned the bloody heat on in my cold house and let it sit in there for an hour then used it, I'd probably get better results.

Probably very comparable to the scale you're looking at. I'm sure you'll be happy for the price.

I have some 0.01 gram scales of ebay for £11($22) weigh down and divide. Better than eyeballing a gram up.

i often see that all scales that can weigh as low as 1mg always is expensive as hell.

i have a scale that can weigh 10mg and up to 50g.. it was a lot cheaper but then again i cant weigh lower than 10mgs.

Anyway, havent overdosed yet, so it works :p (never used it for anything that had to be more precise than +-2mg like 2c-e)

used h2o dissolution fore more accuracy like doi.

i ended up buying a cheap pair of .001g scales of ebay for 35 bucks plus 15 bucks shipping. i weighed an eppendorf tub on two different scales at work one saying 1064mg the other saying 1063.68mg (five decimal place scales). the cheap scales i bought says 1064mg! spot on. came with 10g and 5g calibration scale to. fter weighing small weights like 20mg i weigh a gel cap record the weight. then zero it with the gel cap on it then add the powder and make sure its still 20mg which so far it has been. then i take it off and zero it again and weigh the total to further make sure the total equals gel cap weight plus 20mg which so far it has been everytime. 50 bucks in total and spot on. fuck yeah! alot better than i thought.

FWIW, I purchased an Acculab VIC-123 which has 1mg precision. Perhaps a little costlier than the items discussed above, however it's proven to be rock solid accurate. Only catch is you need to let it "warm up" for 20 minutes before calibrating and actually using it - any sooner and your measurements can be off by several mg.

No warming up with the Jscale, but it is only accurate to 2mg rather than one. Gives instant readings and it is very stable, the weight doesnt fluctuate.
