"Dystopia" 2007 William James Taylor Junior ------------------------------------------------------------- Dystopia From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia A dystopia (from the Greek δυσ- and τόπος, alternatively, cacotopia,[1] kakotopia or anti-utopia) is a fictional society that is the antithesis of utopia. It is usually characterized by an oppressive social control, such as an authoritarian or totalitarian government. In other words, a Dystopia has the opposite of what one would expect in a Utopian society. Some academic circles distinguish between anti-utopia and dystopia. As in George Orwell's 1984,and Yevgeny Zamyatin's "We", a dystopia does not pretend to be good, while an anti-utopia appears to be utopian or was intended to be so (e.g. Aldous Huxley's Brave New World or Andrew Ryan's Rapture in BioShock), but a fatal flaw or other factor has destroyed or twisted the intended utopian world or concept.
dude that's so effin fantastic... I love the tv controlling the guy, the mcdonalds on top, and mostly the "peace" bomb Kudos.
you use the same technique over and over, I mean, its cool art, it has no whole or center to it which leaves me somewhat disoriented. Not saying its bad, it just doesn't have the artistic edge. A 5th grader could've drawn this.
Fantastic! All the color...symbolism (best part). I love mcdonalds on too of the pyramids. This piece highlights America's issues with corporatism & even has its very own media-war-profiting machine. I LOVE IT.
& I disagree...the symbolism is probably too complex for a fifth grader. & I like the "simplicity" of it. I don't find it juvenile, but direct (television stabbing Jesusis just **wow**). The cartoonishness even made me feel like it was all one big joke, which is a great theme. Art, yay!
I want a tattoo like that. I have a drawing I drew up somewhere of what I want. I want a tattoo like that though, with a lot of things incorporated into it, but personaly things incorporated into it.
