It's a sad state of affairs that the narrow mindset of the right wing conspires to drown out and censor peaceful voices (and symbols) of reason and those in authority support them. It shows how the so-called educational system is being used to encourage falling into line and NOT dissenting. Allowing oneself to be brainwashed into supporting morally reprehensible policies means one deserves the consequences of them. I wonder how many right-wing apologists would be so supportive of the current fascist state if they were drafted to ship off to the desert and have their ass shot at by people who resent their country being turned into a puppet state? I hate to say this but the more I see and hear of unreasoning domestic sheep happily supporting our policies the more I see the United States and its allies deserving to have their economies obliterated.
quite the contrary the experience is a good one. It's the real world. Look around, peace isn't a popular message. It takes courage and commitment. Hopefully they'll continue the group.
Good grief. THIS is where a lack of corporal punishment in schools has got us. A few whacks across the backside and these racist little fucks would soon shut up. Bring back the cane say I.
Problem is, if the mobsters in power get thier whole way, they will bring back the cane and it'll be the peace kids getting it.
Oh goshh that's so terrible Thanks for posting this, I'm glad I read it. People can be so cruel. I hope they continue the group too. If we had free dress at my school, I think I'd like to start something like that. But we have strict uniform dress codes :l peace love Jane
I used to live in Brevard County myself.... good for those girls for doing what they did!! And as I remember high school, people did things like paint swastikas and white power bullshit do get a rise, a reaction. Stupid little fucks. They'll grow up. Hopefully. Adolescents is the worst phase of life to go through. Nobody knows theirselves and dont really know the fine line between funny and not. On another thought...you know where those little snots probably got these crazy ideas that peace is bad??? From their parents.
Thanx. I tried to send a message to express my support, but I'm guessing they have that feature blocked now because of all the crap. It really does kind of make you sick. All they are saying is "give peace a chance" and they get crapped on for it.
It's funny how kids at American schools get taught little more than how their country's entire existence is based on freedom of speech but they're not allowed to speak up for their beliefs.
Yup. And it seems like it's usually the same people preaching about how you have to fight to be free who want to limit freedom to what they approve of.
doesn't surprise me. my house got paintballed a couple of years ago when i hung a tie tye peace flag in my window.
I've noticed this too, groovecookie. Amazing, isn't it? The hypocrisy of some folks just confounds me... :toetap:
That whole thing about "supporting the troops" is a huge contradiction too. How do people manage to figure that "supporting the troops" is the same as supporting the senseless war that is killing them? I know they think that the troops need to believe in the worthiness of the cause. I suppose suicide bombers need to believe that there are a thousand virgins waiting in paradise...but it's not about saving beliefs it's about saving lives! It's hard to see how they figure that the soldiers in Iraq seeing people dying every day are going to be demoralized by the fact that people at home want them to come home. I just want to tell some people "You want to support the troops? Then either become a peace activist, or get YOUR lily ass over there and fight if you believe in the war that much! Whew! Ok, groovecookie, calm down...deep breaths.
I simply can't understand how people can ever be this stupid!!! How the (***) can you be against peace? People are sending out a positive message, and the just get shunned and threatened, all because they believe in what is right! How can you possibly offend people by believing in peace???????????
And even the school doesn't seem to support their good ideads and individuality... and I think they know damn well it's right!
I also grew up in Brevard County (Merritt Island) during the last 7 years of the VietNam War. It happened time and time again then too. Peacenik kids, whether we were typical hippie children or not got the shit beat out of us on a regular basis. I took a beating on my own front lawn so bad in 1975 that I spent 3 days in Canaveral Hospital. All because I wore a US Army uniform shirt with a peace sign embroidered on the back to school. I wasn't even vocal about the horrors of war. I was just the child and brother of a fairly hip family and dressed to fit in at home. For some reason I've been thinking about moving back to FL. I think this thread talked me out of it.
