hey, yeah i make hemp jewelry, and it is hard to find cheap, good quality beads around...but maybe it depends on where you live...i found my beads (wooden) at craft stores around where i live, and i also have some bead stores here too. glass beads are usually expensive, so good luck finding cheap ones...maybe check online for them...but the same goes for those (handmade most likely= not cheap!) have fun

    =)

that's my favorite site for hemp, and the beads look amazing, as soon as I can afford it I'm gonna order some from them. Check out thier prices on hemp twine too, cause it's amazing!

I've never ordered from fire mountain gems, but I know someone who got ripped off by them, so be careful. She said that every time she orders from them there's stuff missing, and they never refund you, so that doesn't seem to trustworthy to me.

good luck, and let us know how the bead hunt goes :)

fire mountain gems is definately the cheapest place i've found. and they have A LOT of stuff. for the glass beads, do you have a college near you that offers glassblowing? the university in my town does and i knew of a couple people that did some glass beads. worth checking out, because that way you'd be helping out some broke college student too.

I live near NCSU and there are really no good glass blowing stores. there was one that also sold pipes, but the man came back in march and shut the place down. I am going to my friend's consignment shop today to look at glass beads and hubby some pants. I am going to be moving to Asheville in May and I know that is a predonimately hippie community. Where I live it is mainly punks and beatnics. :)

Say Hey! Thanks for the sites guys! I really dig hempsupply.com especially! It has hemp book bags there and I have been looking for a large hemp shoulder bag to carry my books in. I found one in northern sun magazine and it was $35.00 which is way too much and I found one exactly like it for $18.00 thanks so much and peace and love to you guys! :)

    p.s.
northern sun is a really groovy magazine. you should check it out.

A couple years ago a friend and I came across this amazing macrame book in the discard book of the library. It was like an encyclopedia...jewelry, hangers, hangings, tablecloths, clothes...everything. Alas, I did not understand the allure of a macrame bikini then, and the book was lost forever.

Go to second hand shops and buy ugly necklaces with nice beads, that way you get a whole string of beads for like a quarter.
