Hi All. I have seen/read/heard that making LSD is an extremely complicated process, and dangerous for someone who doesn't know what they're doing. So I was wondering just how someone would learn how to do it? IE how you would go about gaining the knowledge necessary to synthesize lsd. Sorry if this is kinda vague, I'm completely new to acid.
go get a degree in organic chemistry.. if history holds true within 2 or 3 years of college,little networking as well, youll be churnin out doses an forget all about the degree..... although one must have the aptitude for such things. i think you gotta take a shit load of other chemistry courses before bein allowed in the organic chemistry programs,,i may be wrong... ill say this,,all this talk on here about needin all this fancy equipment etc,,.. aint what i seen the 2 times in my life i seen it growing.. do i have a fuckin clue how?? nope..
With my experience, organic chemistry classes come in orgI and orgII and orgLab but before you may take these classes you must have taken and passed chemI and chemII with their respective labs also.
A degree in organic chemistry is not necessary, although very helpful because it will teach you how to use certain lab equipment. There are several methods of producing LSD, all of which are probably impractical for a hobbyist. The most common method (as far as I can tell), requires the cook to grow Ergot infested rye. This Ergot can be converted to ergotamine, a precursor to LA, which is the main precursor to LSD. Ergotamine is the hardest substance to obtain in this process, but harvesting ergot is very efficient if you can do it under the radar. A couple acres of Ergot infested rye could supply enough ergotamine to feed the entire United States' demand for LSD. The DEA suggests that ergotamine tartate (the salt for, which is a prescription drug for migraine headaches) is imported from over places with less restrictive pharmaceutical laws, but I believe that it is grown here in the United States. The LSD business is nothing like Cocaine. Much of it is run by a group of people known as "The Family," who have been distributing LSD since the early days of the Grateful Dead for the purpose if mind expansion. Just from what I have heard about this group, it seems unlikely, to me, that they would risk importing these chemicals from over seas, especially because the DEA hasn't gotten anywhere near the highest ranks of their organization. Once ergotamine tartate is obtained, certain lab equipment is needed to create the LSD, its not just mixing chemicals and "poof". The most significant pieces of equipment are a device which stirs your solution magnetically, the other is a vacuum drying device, as heat and light destroy LSD. If you have all this stuff, the last difficult item is diethyl ether, as it is watched by the government in quantities over a certain undisclosed mass. It is much more complicated and time consuming than drugs like MDMA, but the knowledge is out there, and if a high school senior like me knows how to do it down to the chemical one way, I'm sure a real chemist could figure out how to make it from scratch (one of the reasons I might be going into Chemical Engineering/Organic Chemistry) :leaving:
you have to know how light conditions will effect the chemical as well i read some where that you need normal light, red light and yellow light. ....?? griffen it would take 10 years+ of organic chem, your not just dealing with normal chemistry and atoms but taking it down to the micro atoms which are thousands if not millions of times smaller (i dont know alot about chemistry so forgive me if the terms are wrong). LSD is an extremly unstable chemical and any small mistake will completly destroy the batch and waste many many thousands of dollars in the process. also small mistakes in the batch have been known to cause convulsions and such which by any means is not a product youd want to put out. very few people would have the connections to be able to get all these items without getting the attention of the DEA for something.
