    Hey all,

I'm new to this whole writing thing. I wrote this (I guess you could call it a poem) tonight when I was really upset. Please comment but don't be too harsh seeing as I'm still new :).

    Thanks

    I am small and insignificant.
You wouldn't notice me at a first glance.
I am on the sidelines and in the background.
You wouldn't want me in the limelight.
Popularity isn't in my first nature.

I am the seemingly happy person.
    I smile a lot and I'm friendly.
The smiles are fake and I long for acceptance.

You have no idea how lucky you are.
    You do not struggle.
You have no idea what it is to be shunted.
Truly shunted by every person that was supposed to be your friend.

All of your lies are mixing into reality.
At this point, I can't tell real from your fiction anymore.

    I am misunderstood.
    The Black Sheep.
I long to be normal (by the standard definition)
I am tired of aching in places I didnt know I had.
I am losing the ongoing day to day battle with myself.

This is not a ploy for attention like you might think.
This is an honest cry for help.
So until you decide to open your eyes and notice the signs,
this will sit in my book of secrets until I wither and die.

By then it may be too late.
    Would you notice?
    Would you care?

Please tell me what you think. Thanks!

I like it. And yes, I would call it a poem. I occasionally write poems myself, which are actually very similar in style and content to this one. [wonder why I like?]

Also I know the emotional space that this expresses inside and out. I have lived it all to often through out my life. So, it spoke to me like I was talking to myself.

Keep writing, I'd like to see some more.
