My gf wants the heater on a lot.

But I want to save money. I usually opt for an extra shirt or a hot shower, since hot water does not cost anything in my apartment.

She doesn't agree with those solutions, she still wants the heater on quite a bit...or what I feel is a bit to much.

We get in arguements over that. she doesn't want to freeze. I don't want to pay the high oil prices.

How can we reach common grounds?

I don't need the heater most of the time. she thinks her lap top, etc will malfunction or something if the air is to cold...

...who knows. any suggestions? Maybe her pay the oil bill and I take the electricty bill?

An electric blanket. I don't think they use all THAT much power. The colder it is in the room, the better the blanket feels. We bought one a few years back and I would never want to live through another winter without one! Just a thought for consideration.

electronics tend to run better in cooler environments, til youre below freezing or so at least. what about a space heater, thatll heat the room shes in but not the whole apartment? one that runs off of electricyt and is fairly efficient

I second the space heaters. That's basically all we use in our house for heat.

Space heaters use about 1500 watts of electricity. Unless your power is included in your rent, those space heaters can really jack up your electric bill.
I just bought a load of heating oil. $2.83 a gal. that hurt.

I believe the usual is up to 1500 hundred. We keep ours at 900 and it saves us quite a bit of $$$$

My daughter lives at home with us, but likes it plenty warm. I like it nice and cool. So she uses a very small space heater, and just keeps it at her feet if she gets too cold. Yeah, electric heat is expensive, but whoever it was who suggested it above made a good suggestion, in my opinion. For warming a small space it works quite well.

Be a cheapass on the toilet paper instead. One square, at a time..
You know my husband did the same damn thing to me.. I used to HATE IT... just find out what her favorite hot drink is and keep it around the house.. I bought tons of tea it helped.. usually its a circulation thing with women too.. is that your house btw? I want it
