Acendent sign...

Hey what is this all about. I just recently did my chart on astro.com and discovered how much influence other planets have on my personality in addition to the sun sign. On the subject of the ascendant sign...I could relate to some of the characteristics that describe leo rising, but I'm not really THAT much of an attentions seeker, I guess maybe because I never really had to try...hehehe(sorry)

So tell me what you think your rising sun sign or ascendant means to you, does it describe you well? If so why?

In traditional astrology, the ascendant represents you, so the planet ruling your ascendant will have a lot to do with you. In traditional, it's not as easy as saying "you are an XYZ, so you are an attention seeker". There are many more things to look at.

Plus it matters if the ruling planet is either dignified or debilitated. For instance, if your ascendant is Capricorn, your ruling planet is Saturn, but if Saturn is in Leo, then your ruling planet is debiltated. What that means depends on what else is going on such as aspects with other planets and the house it's in.

Sun signs are not used at all in traditional astrology for personality unless your ascendant ruler is Leo. However, the Sun may be considered for certain things.

Hehehe. I have an Aquarius rising with a sun in Gemini. The word free pops up alot and it very true.

 

I'm Virgo rising, and am shy and quiet. It's been said Virgo rising will buy things to do away with clutter and I recently got a bookshelf, and god a lot of books on it already. I'm not that organized though. I'd say my rising sign describes me fairly well.

 

I have a question for a friend, what if your Sun sign is capricorn, ascendant is Leo and Saturn is Leo?????

 

I would have to see the whole chart. I would pay attention to what the Sun is doing. Saturn in Leo is its sign of detriment. What that means in your friend's case depends on the chart.

I strongly believe that my Rising Sign has a vicious rule over my entire personality. I am a Virgo sun sign with Libra rising.

Virgo is supposed to be earthy and practical, and Libra is supposed to be airy and superficial.

I am the biggest airhead you'd ever meet.

 

It's like looking in a mirror! I have a Gemini rising with a sun in Aquarius! how festive! dude, high five!

 

My mom always told me I was a leo rising, but when I actually looked my chart up on astro.com I found that I am actually a cancer rising. I wonder if she didn't take the time zones into consideration? I want to make sure I am seeing my correct chart on astro.com - does anyone know if it's accurate/inaccurate?

 

Astro.com does a pretty good job coming up with charts, so I assume it is. You always use the local time zone of the birth location.

You are looking at the sign on the far left (9:00 position)?

 

Hi just reading all the comments and I totally agree that your rising sign is really important. I am aries sun, scorpio ascendant and taurus moon. My scorp ascendant is by far the most dominant aspect in my chart. Emotional, secretive, intense, paranoid, totally dedicated, lots of stamina and an ability
to read between the lines. I also believe that this is the journey we have chosen to take in this lifetime and mine is scorpio.

i've got leo rising AND leo sun herherr.. lol but i have aquarius moon :x hello opposition! what would you guys think of a person with those arrangements?
