I'm bisexual, (female) and I'm single now, but I plan to get married (to a man) after college and have kids. I've only come out to one friend, and I'd rather not go through the difficult process of coming out to my family, since they already think I'm weird enough. I've never had a girlfriend nor do I see it in the near future, and I don't particularly care if anyone knows about my sexual orientation. So is there any reason for me to come out? Obviously, if I DID get a girlfriend, which of course is a possibility, I might want to come out, but.... I really can't see myself spending my life with a woman, so it probably wouldn't be important....Do you think there's a lot of bisexuals who never come out? Do you think my family and close friends would want to know, or would they NOT want to know, or would they not care? (My friends and most of my family are liberal and nonreligious.)
Of course not - you never 'have' to come out. Most people do eventually because they don't want to feel that they are lying to all the people close to them etc, but for the moment at least I guess that's not an issue for you. The only real problem I could see is that if at some later stage of your life you DO get a girlfriend and come out, people might wonder why you hadn't told them earlier, whether you don't trust them blah blah. It's your life - you make the rules
I'm still closeted. But! I'm OUT to the Hipforums peeps. i'M bI- TO THOSE i KNOW. (Fuckin Caps-Lock!!!!!!!!!!)
