Hey everyone! Im growing out my hair so I can dread it for the summer- the guy that trims my hair now and then says that if he takes out some volume from the hair going down the back of my neck, it should grow faster. So hence longer, but not thicker- I have pretty thick hair as it is so it feels a lot lighter, but Im wondering how it would affect dreadlocks? Do I want there to be as much hair as possible to dread or either is fine ? I figured that the result would be thinner or fewer dreads in the back of my head, but you guys know best so Looking forward to your advice! Garrett
yeah don't worry about it i was like you i thought about everything liike if i dry my hair a certain way it might knot faster or whatever get some residue free organic soap and don't brush your hair and ur good to go!
thinning it is not a good idea. stop going to the hairdresser, stop brushing, wash with a residue-free shampoo, and just let your hair do its thing. thick hair tends to dread faster. my thin, fine hair is taking its sweet time, but after four and a half months, i've got some sweet dreadie babies forming. celebrate your thick mane!
Haha Tommygun, I was the same, it seemed like for weeks before I dreaded my hair I was on the net trying to find out everything I "needed" to do before getting dreads, then once I got them I was like... so...is this all I do?
