Spooner, if you choose to stay with your current gf you should be honest about your future plans and the fact that you don't see the relationship lasting beyond this year. If you really love her, you'll be straight with her about that and tell her that while you want to be with her as long as you can, it can't be a forever thing. If she really means a lot to you and you to her, you guys can stay in touch and write once in awhile, staying friends, etc. I elected to do that with a boyfriend who was moving far away, rather than trying to have a long distance relationship (which doesn't usually work for long unless it's something like military deployment and the couple is already well established/married and in that case the husband/wife of that person knew what they were getting into anyway). It hurt at first because we did love each other. I still have love for the guy even years after the fact, but it helped me move on and find other things in my life that I still had the option of catching up with him and seeing how he was doing. When holidays come around and he's in town, we usually get together and catch up. It's nice. He's a good friend.

 

It's come up, but I'm not exactly sure how she's processed it. It'll be far from coming out of the blue, at any rate.

Some of the worst break up quotes here are just the truth. Is it better to lie? Well it certainly would have been in some of the situations mentioned here. I don't suppose there is a good way to do it.

There's a good way to get broken up with though, that's for sure. I actually had a chick drop to her knees balling hysterically and wrap her arms around my legs while begging no please no don't leave me. Christ she really laid it on thick. Yuck.

 

Salmon, I think the point the ladies were trying to make is that the guys they broke up with lashed out with insults as a defense mechanism, not as a way to truly be honest.

 

some guys are different. some try to let go lightly, (like myself), and others just trash em... guys just dont say, well im breaking up with you cause your a fat pig... thats nonsence, or else they wouldnt have dated you in the first place. Maybe its the way you break up with him, maybe an attitude or something. others just tell the truth about why they are breaking up, and it hurts. but you should still not be so blunt about it, unless they are being a royal dick to you.

so just think about how your going to say it before you say it cause there might be some relatiation. if its nice, he might cry, or just walk away. if your a bitch about it, expect a shitty remark. (i.e you were to fat anyway, etc.)

Oh and my x b/f is STILL trying to insult me with rediculous insults. he called me 6 times at 7:30 in the morning last week to try to insult me. he is lucky that I get up at 6:30. I've been playing the ignoring card and he hasn't been picking up on it.

I would have been pissed, but I've been with other guys that worshipped the floor I walk on, so I just summed it up to him trying to cover his tracks, which basically will only hurt him mentally anyways.

 

Some of you can't handle the truth. Most just had asshole boyfriends. I make no individual judgements, you'll have to decide for yourself. Is there any thruth to any of the mean things that were said? You be the judge...and don't lie to yourself. it's possible that they were speaking the truth AND they were an asshole.

 

i don't think i'm gross or anything along those lines. I think the opposite about myself. we all are equal. everyone is beautiful. there is no reason to say, "ewww you're gross" as a reason for breaking up. maybe you should reread what I posted?

 

Since your asking me to judge you as opposed to the whole group in general, I will. I don't think your gross either. In your case you just had an asshole boyfriend.

As for everyone being beautiful....uh maybe on the inside.

 

When I finally was able to leave my psychopathic ex-husband, he sent me a letter in the mail, and with it was a piece of paper with a caricature of me drawn on it. I was 8 months post-partum, and he had drawn a picture of me with all the "damaged" parts of my body accentuated (tummy, boobs, c-section scar, etc.)

It's been 15 years, and I still think about how crummy I felt when I saw it. What a douche.

My fav, cuz it's how my only relationship/breakup went down was in a text "I'm soooo sorry but I just don't have time for a boyfriend right now, so much is going on with my family" hehe was with her for 4 years so I knew the family shit, but it comes to surface REAL quick that she was/had been with my bestfriend/ HER stepbrother lol fuckin NASTY! In hindsight, I'd venture to say that 90+% of breakups are a gift in disguise to at least one of the parties involved

 

Well...in her defense...there was a whole lot going on with her family...yikes!
