Please, please, Please. DO NOT get depovera. I learned after a few miscarriages, even after one shot, and two years, that depo SUCKS. I Just had ANOTHER miscarriage last night. I think it's ridiculous that they tried to tell every woman that it was a fantastic birth control when after so many years women are having miscarriages, and fertility problems. They say it quits working after three months, but something still stays in your system after 18 months. So PLEASE do not let doctors convince you that this is okay. It's definately not.

I'm so sorry to hear about your miscarriages. I have never been a fan of any hormone based bc, thus I haven't ever been on any. Still, everybody that I know that has been on Depro has had some sort of problems. Coincidence? I think not.

I have a few friends and my sister who have also had miscarriages after being off depovera for several months. I also watched a program, prior to depovera being deemed "safe" for North America, it was experimented on women from countries such as India - the women being interviewed were desperate for some control over their bodies, primarily control over pregnancy, and the several women interviewed had irreversible complications, and some even died from the use. the makers of the drug went into communities that were rural, the women were desperate and experimented on them like animals. Then the drug was tweeked and introduced to North America. It was years since I watched the program, but I'd recommend learning about the background of the depovera and any other drug or medical procedure introduced to us. I personally believe that natural is best, and I've been able to have my children when I wanted and when I didn't. Sometimes that doesn't work for all, so just get as much background as you can prior to introducing something new to our bodies.
I believe I watched the program through CBC, but I'm not certain.

TV is a very biased outlet, and I don''t remember all the facts of the show, but I would recommend as women we do our own research, and ask a lot of questions prior to introducing something to our bodies. It seems that the medical world always has something new for us, and remember that major drug companies are in the rat race of the stock market!

The fact remains if you choose to be celibate well that's great, you have much more self control then most people, but the fact is both men and woman normally start having sex in their teens and this is not anything new, despite what romantic fairy tales of the past that's what has been going on since ancient Greece and beyond. Birth control just makes it so most babies aren't born to 17 year old parents.

But the fact is that's not how 99% of people outside the clergy is

But you are a human, and you have free thought, and you could try to be more pleasure seeking. You should seek your own self pleasure, doesn't have to with sex.

Birth control doesn't completly prevent, but it can reduce the chances to a fraction when done right. When it comes down to it humans are highly intelligent animals, but we are still just another animal, but we are also blessed/cursed however you want to look at it as having the mind for sex for pleasure, and people will continue to seek that pleasure because it is so intense, just like why people will always use drugs. And it's not just for pleasure, while partly it is, sex is also one of the most intimate and beautiful things you could possibly do with someone you love.

Well by clergy I meant nuns, priests and such

And yes, sexual desire is a huge part of human nature, which is why most people go out and have sex, because it's just not the same pleasure as satisfying yourself or any drug/spirtual pleasure.

Morals are just one's own personal belief system that changes from person to person or a general idea followed by a culture that changes from era to era. And yes we have morals, but again it's all animal psychology, we just have complex ones since we have the complex thoughts, but we take after other animals, like a truce for example, most people on a battlefield for example will honor a truce and not harm an enemy, animals do the same, ever see a watering hole after the dry season on the african plains, all animals go there to drink at once and it becomes neutral ground, but in both examples there may be a jackass who does something stupid and breaks the peace. Morals are just complex annalysis of our basic thought-action structure.

But back on birth control for a moment, even married people still use it to avoid having kids, and I guarentee even still in marriage probably near 1/2 of kids are unplanned. You also gotta remember from a biological standpoint we were designed to have sex constantly and have kids at 18, which worked great when we were still food on the plains for bigger animals and dying by 35.

But why shouldn't drugs be used for pleasure, shouldn't the point of life to be to enjoy your life to the extreme, go crashing head first into your grave covered in dust saying "wow that was a hell of a ride" or try to keep your body in mint condition to drag on the years of your life when your body is one step away from a break down.

And yes, I do know what love is, it is the greatest high you can ever feel.

And yes we are in dire need of Ron Paul

Uhm, I'm married. I have a two year old daughter. SO SHUT THE FUCK UP, I think my husband and I, best friends for seven years, btw, know when we're ready to have a baby.

Well I don't wanna keep hijacking this thread so we can take it to PM if you want, but to sum it up for now:

-Being married means nothing about your ability to raise a child, my sister works for the department of children and families, and trust me, just about all the cases they have to investigate and children they have to put into foster care come from married couples.

-The fact most girls and boys are capable of reproducing by age 12 is enough natural evidence.

-Before civilization living past 35 as a hunter/gatherer was quite a feat. Even once we got to complex civilzations such as the Roman empire, for the common poor person living to 45 was a feat in itself.

-If you think love is a choice and not a feeling you are going to be left with a big hole in your life forever. There is no better feeling then holding the person you love.

Thanks but, I already have a two year old daughter, and it's not like we're poor... at all... infact we're doing very, very well... and why would I think love is a choice? You can't tell a person that they're not ready to have a baby, when you haven't met them, you don't know them, and you know what? It doesn't matter what you say anyway because we're moving into a three bedroom apartment very soon, because, turns out, I'm pregnant. Still. So how bout less judgement and more encouragement?
