A compound that occurs naturally containing eugenol.

A clove cig is one with a mixture of tobacco and cloves. Usually containing other spices. Popular brands are, nat shermans, djarum, zanzibar, and dreams. Djarums be my favorite.

People say they kill your lungs, blah blah. But they don't any more than regular cigarettes. If you wanna know what kills your lungs it's newport 100's.

Cloves are tasty but I wouldn't advise smoking them all the time because the taste does get a bit stale. If you smoke cigs regularly, then buy a pack along with your regular cigs and just switch em up every now and then.

Cloves are a spice or something like that. And yes smoking clove cigarettes is worse for you. That eugenol will fuck with your airways. If you smoke them often the taste does go stale, even if it's a new pack. I had a pack at my friends house and everyone was telling me to put it out because it smelled bad. Screw them.

Dude, ever compared a pack of Djarum blacks (my favourites) to a pack of cigarettes? I did once (it was Canadian cigarettes, but I don't think there's a big difference) and they're SO much more tar and nicotine and everything in cloves, haha... not like that stops me!
But yeah, definitely just buy a pack and keep your cigarettes (if you even smoke cigarettes)... when I get cloves, I usually only smoke 1-2 a day because the taste does get kinda gross if you smoke them too often.

    clove can mean several things.

clove, as a noun, usually refers to the spice, clove, which is produced from the dried flower bud of the clove tree, or the tree itself. it is often found ground, or else in its whole form.

it is similar in character to a number of spices such as allspice and cinnamon, and is used in a number of different products, primarily for flavoring.

clove can also be a word related to the word cleave, meaning to cut or split into segments, especially along a natural line of division. (as in a cloven hoof)

a clove can also be a noun related somewhat to the word cleave as in a clove of garlic. when a bulb grows in natural segments, like a garlic bulb, the individual segments are called cloves....as in a garlic clove.

rather uncommon is the use of the word clove as a measurement of weight, apparently usually equivalent to eight pound (source: dictionary.com)

colloquially, "a clove" may refer to a kretek, also colloquially referred to as a "clove cigarette." these are cigarettes produced from indonesian tobacco and ground cloves, and sometimes clove oil. the name "kretek" is the "official" term for this type of cigarette and the word itself is an example of onomatopoeia. "kretek" is supposed to sound like the crackling noise the cigarettes make on account of the burning cloves within. they are usually a bit stronger than american cigarettes, and often rolled in dark cigarette papers, sometimes with oily spots dotting the paper from the addition of clove oil. sometimes they contain other flavoring/aromatic spices. a lit kretek maintains a very unique and distinctive sweet and spicy flavor and aroma, and are more like incense than traditional cigarettes in terms of the scent. the flavors are as varied as the flavors of traditional cigarettes. popular brands include djarum and sampoerna. some cigarette companies outside of indonesia have decided to capitalize on the growing popularity of clove cigarettes in the west and produce their own rather than simply importing them, but they are often different from kreteks by simply using clove oil or essence, or some other similar flavoring, rather than mixing tobacco with actual ground whole cloves. the tobacco used is also very likely to be different.

many people do maintain that regularly smoking kreteks and other forms of clove cigarettes are more harmful to you than smoking plain tobacco. this may or may not be the case, but there is strong anecdotal evidence to support the idea that regular smoking of clove cigarettes is more damaging than regular western cigarettes, and possibly as damaging or possibly even worse than some menthols. of course, as cloves and tobacco are both natural, agricultural products, and as all other ingredients in various types of cigarettes are also subject to qualitative differences, the harmfulness of a particular brand may periodically change, and also has to do with the smoker in question. cigarettes may be more adequately compared brand to brand rather than one category against another ("lights" "regulars" "filters" "full flavors" "menthol" "flavored" "clove" etc.) such names sometimes make little difference.

smoking any cigarette is bad for you, and all tobacco that quickly and substantially delivers nicotine into the body (cigarettes of any sort, any other smokable tobacco that the smoker chooses to inhale, chewing tobacco and dip, nasal snuff) has the potentially to be quite addictive. a lot of kids and "hip" folks smoke cloves because they like the flavor better, or because its "cool"

a lot of people smoke cloves because they think that they're less addictive somehow. many "nonsmokers" smoke cloves on occasion, but this is no different than smoking a regular cigarette once in a while - some people can do it, but its still an addictive substance and can catch up with you.

some people are under the misconception that clove cigarettes contain cloves but no tobacco and maintain that they're very harmful but tobacco and nicotine free. i know of NO brands that make cigarettes like this, but this is not to say such a thing has never happened. i do strongly doubt it, though.

while i no longer smoke regularly, i find kreteks to often be a nice alternative to cigarettes, menthol cigarettes, and those nasty things kids and hippies sometimes smoke called bidis...bidis are nasty shit.....

cloves are nice once in a while, and my favorite kretek is sampoerna x-tra...but when i used to smoke cloves primarily, i DID notice a worsening of my respiratory health, though my state of health in that area was low throughout my entire history of regular cigarette smoking.

Everyone else is getting way too scientific about this.

A clove cigarette, if that's what you're referring to, is a nasty cigarette that is really strong smelling and tasting. And they happen to make me feel sick whenever I smell them.

i have been entirely tobacco free for about a week now, i'm guessing, and other than that i usually smoke cigars or pipes, and have gotten away from a severe addiction to cigarettes.

used to smoke like a chimney for several years, at my worst i was smoking one and a half to two packs a day....

dont smoke cigarettes often at all now, but i've been considering a pack of sampoerna x-tras for a bit now....i know if i get a pack i'll smoke more often than normal, ESPECIALLY in terms of cigarettes....but i really want some.

but then again, its been a while since i smoked ANY tobacco at all, let alone cigarettes, and right now i'm pretty sick with some sinus shit...smoking would do nothing to cure it. i'll still smoke a little bit of pot, but until i'm better cigarettes of ANY sort are out of the question, especially when it comes to buying a whole pack.

i'm thinking i might get a pack of cloves whenever i'm both healthy enough to smoke a cigarette or two, and ready to trip again...but both those criteria ought to be met when i get some...

i dunno....perhaps i should take this opportunity to go all out and completely eliminate tobacco from my life....

i dont know about which cigarettes contain other things, but i do know some of the regular cloves use clove oil in addition to ground cloves....

if i'm not mistaken though, nat sherman "cloves" do not actually contain ground clove. but i'm not certain about it
