For those of you who have forgotten: Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press, or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances. I see all these religious threads popping up all over the place in here and people constantly trying to impose their faith on others, flaming the beliefs of others etc. If someone doesn't believe in what you believe in, tough titties, it's their right. Whether you like it or not everyone in this nation has the right to believe whatever they want concerning religion and to express that belief, but that same right does not cover, 'saving others', 'bringing people back to jesus', and on the opposite side trying to convince someone else not to believe in jesus. I'm sorry but harrasment is not covered under freedom of speech and some people in here are a bit over zealous concerning their faith and apparently don't quite understand this.
I think sometimes people think what they believe is the right way and there is no other way. Like Idon't think people should eat mammals because it is just wrong, and it is really hard for me to sensor my views because in my head and heart I know I am right. Other people feel like that about religion and while I don't I can understand and respect how they believe in something sodeeply that they know it as fact.
The christian/nonbeliever ratio is like 2:30 in this forum and your getting mad over that? WoW what is it about Christianity that drives people nuts? If you don't like it then don't respond to it. "They say you can rap about anything except for Jesus" -Kanye West
dude. i think that you are taking a defensive stand. he was saying believe what you will. and let everyone else too. judge not least ye be judged! namaste and god bless
Actually if you took the time to actually read my post thoroughly - I was also criticizing those who harass you concerning your beliefs too.
I am sorry... it is 1:30 here in MI...time for bed.... I'm not harasing anyone... just debating.... if I was harrashing someone I would had made a seperate forum on them called "why I dont believe in..."
omg...just listen to someone when they say somthing he said he was defending you from people harrassing you
The First Amendment does give us freedom of religion. However, Christian doctrine says you must witness Christ. We have the makings of a Civil and religous conflict here.
I love it too. I can't debate with people about my Christian beliefs just like I can't judge them about theirs. It doesn't seem right to me. I don't mind discussions about it as long as we respect each other's opinions. We have all had different upbringin's. Some have had Religion in their lives since the day they were born, some never had it, some didn't have it till they were old enough to make a decision about it on their own, (like myself), some may never find it. The point I am tryin' to make here is be comfortable with WHO YOU ARE. If someone does't agree with you, especially about such a sensitive topic as this, are we not suppose to respect each other's RIGHTS? Your opinion is your RIGHT. All that said. I am a Christian. I believe Jesus died for me (everyone).I believe in God. I don't go to church. I don't feel I have too in order for me to know where my heart is. I feel my life and my family have been blessed in many ways. I am not perfect, I have never claimed to be perfect. I have faults, I have fallen, and I WILL fall again. I am only human. The thing for me is tryin' to learn from my mistakes so I don't keep repeatin' them. This isn't always so easy. One other thing I would like to add is that I cannot quote scripture. I know some of the New Testament, well I have read it a couple times if that counts. The key for me is knowin' where my heart is.
Kayne West is a biatch for that song. The reason he's bitching is because that song has a suck-ass beat, and thats why it dosnt get played, not because of Jesus. No one wants to hear that 15 cent track. The sad thing is, I hear it way too much. There goes his theory about not getting played because its a jesus track. My theory: The song can suck, but if it mentions jesus, it's a hit because they feel bad. I can picture jesus freaks bobbing their heads to that song, then crying when they read the lyrics to the rest of his songs. "Now even though I went to college and dropped out of school quick I always had a Ph.D.: a Pretty Huge Dick Ladies tired of gettin' ripped off by guys like this And givin' head is like 'oh well, the shoes and the toothpick' Well, I'm in the club for a limited time Act now and get some action for $free.99 Later on I might charge for ménage"
I am living in Jesus and football land. If you don't believe that those two things are the be all end all then you are a social outcast. I went to church as a child but not now. I heard of one Baptist church trying to take a woman's children from her. Now that's just ridiculous. I run in the opposite direction from those people. My son's fourth grade teacher told her class(in public school no less) that unless they were Baptist they would be going to hell. My kids now go to the non religious private school. People can believe whatever they want and practice whatever religion they want in this country so I always have all of my Wiccan ceremonies in the front yard so all the Christian neihbors can see. I even have to vote in a Baptist church. It just gives me the creeps. I think all religion comes from humans natural desire to explain what's going on in nature, floods, sunrise, sunset, moons, death, etc. Also, rituals or repetitive tasks like praying or lighting candles has a hypnotic effect on the mind which takes the human's mind off of the bad crap in life. And finally I believe that religion was a means of controlling the masses through fear. Like if you don't follow the church and it's doctrine it's hell for you buddy. Well, I don't believe in hell, aliens, or anything. Evidence of God is in nature. I've been told Jesus is coming. I wish he? would get on with it. In the meantime people who want to cram their religion down others throats are just scary.
for the same reason that people can disagree with religion, people can post their religion. and if someone is mean when they respond, the religious one has every right to flame right back. let it GO. if you don't wanna read about someone's religion, don't fucking read it. it's not being imposed on you, since you can get up and leave at any time. throwing the info out there is not an imposition.
