I didn't have a lighter but I had matches and a fairly large candle that stood on its own. i used a one-hitter that i made out of a pen tip and a metal tube. Is this bad?
Not necessarily bad as long as the pen tip is metal and not coated in anything toxic like plastic... as far as the candle goes.. its probably safer for you than matches providing you don't get too stoned and knock it over.. thus burning your house down.
i wouldnt advise doing this again. you'll inevitably be inhaling some paraffin along with the smoke. paraffin wax is a petroleum product, made from crude oil. burning it is bound to produce some other things, i would think. if nothing else, i'd be afraid that the heat doesnt completely burn off all the paraffin at once, and that some of it may escape as a vapor, unburned. it definitely happens when the candle is put out - try burning a candle, then blowing it out. quickly reapply a flame relatively NEAR the wick, but not close enough so that its burning the wick. the vaporous paraffin should reignite the candle in a flash if done quickly enough. a jar candle and a barbecue lighter would work best for demonstrating this, probably. i'm definitely not sure exactly what happens when burning paraffin, but its certainly better to err on the side of caution and avoid inhaling anything resulting from burning paraffin wax, as with all other burning petroleum products. not to say paraffin is particularly dangerous, it just can't be good to breath it in.... if you're caught in a bind again a candle isnt out of the question, but it may possibly be a better idea to light wooden toothpicks from the candle and use them as matches instead of using the candle directly. matches themselves shouldnt be too bad, either, so long as you are careful to let the tip completely burn up before using it to light your bowl. but i'd try to stay away from smoking wax.
I've used a candle when trying a lightbulb vape and by the end of a couple bowls I could see the wax build up on the glass.
^the easiest and most convenient solution, really. but sometimes when circumstances wont allow such a solution, improvisations must be made. and lighting toothpicks off a candle certainly would be preferable to smoking a candle.
in a pinch yea, but idk anyone who can't get a lighter. I was buying lighters and cigs for my friends since 15. It's not how you look, unless you didn't hit puberty yet, it's how you carry yourself. I buy alcohol all the time and never get hassled and I've been doing so since 17. Also a little hint if you haven't hit puberty yet or have a baby face, ask a 17-19 year old to get shit for you. I buy stuff like that for little kids who ask all the time. Wait outside a wawa and when you see some older teens go in throw them some $ and they'll buy it for you.
i've never had a problem getting a lighter in general, not since i was real young. but back when i was still living with my parents, if my lighters happened to die and it was late and i had no transportation and no money anyway, then i'd have to improvise.
no like I said I've used some ghetto ass methods of smoking in a pinch, but buy 2 lighters and make sure to buy another one as soon as the one dies.
