Hello All! I am looking to fly to AMS from Connecticut USA in march of 08' and prices look to be around 550-650. Do the prices vary if i wait until 3 months or so before i leave? Can i save more money??

    Thanks Everyone,

    Steve

your better off flying out of bradford intl with their new non-stop flight to amsterdam and avoid the hassle of driving to nyc area airports and their long lines, parking etc. and it's a shorter non-stop flight with no delays. I've been doing the drive from bristol to newark, jfk for years and it is such a pain in the ass. Can't wait to fly out of CT. next april!!!

I usually use one of the major sites for travel. I booked a few weeks ago. I just missed the best deal, but now its a lot more than I paid. You have to really look to find the best package deals. As far as air only I can't say, but a 5 day package can vary up to several hundred dollars depending on when you book. I would say make sure you know when you can go, hotel star level (or just research the ones or area you want) & when you see the best deal be ready yo book it then. Also I don't like to land at 6AM, just a preference of ours. Sometimes you can get in to your room early sometime you can't. Doesn't matter to me, but it does to my wife.

Consider an apartment the next time, and there will ALWAYS be a *next time* once you've visited AMS. The same (or less) price as a hotel, with the feeling of actually living in AMS.

Houseboats are very nice accomodations also. Comparable to nice hotel prices, and living on the canals with no stairs to deal with. Something nice to splurge on.
Apartments and houseboats can allow you to stay in areas of AMS that are not available with hotels.

hey thanks for all the info folks. We were looking at housboats for around 2000 USD for the week, but decided on the flying pig hostel which was 950 USD for a 6 person room(3 people in out party). Brought the cost down more.
Also, for the record, the current plane ticket price is 482 with Northwest Airlines from BDL to AMS. So..im happy i waited. Saved ~100 per person!

Right now, we're looking at ~800 USD for the flight and week room! 500 for gear and food and we're good.

I've stayed at the Freeland for a few nights in late Dec2006. It's a decent place run by nice people. I was in #7, the Sunflower Room, which faces the back and is quiet. Smoking is allowed, but you'll have to open the window. The shower was the smallest I've ever been in.

Ja, toilet en suite for room #7.

When making reservations, check with the hotel regarding smoking. The policy may have changed.

Hotel Freeland also had a PC in the lobby for guest use.
