Maybe there was something before and there is something after, but I don't have any recollection or premonition of either, and can only theorize. There is definitely a time and place for these meditations, but if I were to allowmyself to get caught up in these thoughts, I'd lose focus on the moment.

The things that will be manifest too quickly for my comfort. Before I know it, I'll be 50. And before I know it, I'll be dead. But for now, I'm here. And I'd rather focus on doing what makes me happy now than planning for what might make me happy later.

And when it ends, when I face judgement, from anything outside or within myself, I think I will be content with the verdict as long as I am content with the things I have done and the decisions I have made. If I died tomorrow, I'd be willing to spend an eternity in Hell. I've tried my best to live well and follow my convictions, and though I don't always succeed, I'm pleased with my effort.

And I hope I continue to be pleased when I'm 50, regardless of what it is that pleases me.

My argument may have been strictly clinical, but the "greater point" is to be found in that health is the most important asset a living entity possesses, and once you stop caring about it, you're as good as dead, which will likely be a godsend, since death is very often preferred to lingering poor health.

But physical health isn't the only kind. I value my spiritual and mental health before my physical health, which is one of those things it took me 20 years to realize and be comfortable with.

Besides, I firmly disagree that a living thing must be living or dying, because every living thing does both simultaneously, and it is possible to do neither.

Everyone who has lived will someday die, BUT not everyone who dies has lived.
