Something in the water = no birthcontrol?

I live in a small hickville town and it seems that almost every 15-19 yr old female here is either pregnant or has a kid already. Like something in the water is keeping them from using birth control. Now the latest victims of this would be some very good friends of mine. She's 19 and he's 21, she works part time and he's been out of job for almost 2 months now. So the other day the girl in question comes into my friends tattoo shop and says she's 1-2 months pregnant and she's all excited and shit.

Why she's all excited I couldn't tell you because for 1) their relationship is rather fucked up in ways that I cannot even explain really. They fight a lot and don't even act like a couple. They act more like friends most of the time even though they've been together for 4 yrs. Also if he does or says something or doesn't say or do something she mimicks him. Like she isn't her own person, she does or does not do what he does or says. Like they share one single brain rather than 2. For 2) they aren't really secure on the money side of things, like they have problems paying their rent and I want to say they are at least one month behind on it.

Here's the real kicker. He doesn't even know she's pregnant as of yesterday because he decided to take a vaction to the beach and party it up for a week with his brother and his phone is dead or something. They may have communicated by now. So I'm just sitting there thinking "well that kid is going to have a fucked up life unless they get their asses in gear and wake up to reality." I guess she thinks that if they have a kid it'll make everything all better for them. I don't get it, how can you hope to take care of a kid when you can't even take care of yourself? Anyway, it just pisses me off that nobody around here seems to know what a fucking condom is, like there's something in the fucking water that makes them all go anti-birthcontrol.

 

But what is the government, the media, the schools doing in that country?? I think it's hightime to take some action

 

thats really fucked up. now this is where people dont understand that children are a blessing. i lost my mine, and these fuckers are here poping them out like they have tons of money and everything to be able to support their kids.. i dont think they do. it gets me so fucking mad all the time when i hear something like this...because i had money and a house and a fiance and then i loose my baby.... and these people dont have shit.

 

I'll bet every one of those losers in that Alabama hick town voted for George Bush...after all, he is "pro-life"

 

I live in Alabama, and I can tell you why it is: almost everyone here is a baptist or some kind of protestant, and most christians don't believe in birth control, in fact, pretty much what some of them believe in is over-population...

CHildren arent like puppys, after they arent so cute anymore , hand them off to some one else, which 9 chances out of 10 is that normally happens with young people these days, more so those who arent in a comited relationship

why in the fuck do you care how many girls get pregnant in how many months in your town? Just worry that you dont get pregnant, and worry about yourself
its their life and if they want to fuck it up, thats up to them...

Actually I don't care anymore, I moved away from there. It's just fucked up that people should be more careful about shit such as making unneed humans. There's 8 billion of us on this rock, why create more? Adopt one, hell I would if I wanted a kid. The Earth is already going to shit for the hate of satan. Uhm I can't get pregnant for I am a male.

I don't understand people. I'm going to point out that all the mega celebrities have babies, and that some of the biggest shows on TV are "Teen Mom" and "16 and Pregnant". Also, as a female on birth control, I'm going to point out that the shit is goddamn expensive.

 

growing up in a small town, you want one of two things. either to get the fuck out of that town, or to get married and raise your own family in that town. half the people get out as soon as they can, and you don't really think about them anymore. the other half marry their high school sweetheart and get knocked up, because that's what they want out of life and there's nothing stopping them.

I live in Canada and it is the same thing here. I was talking to one of the girls I work with. My thing was that everyone I know is getting married and I'm the last of the single people that I know.

Her thing is that all of her friends are having babies and when I asked her if she wanted them she quickly said "Not right now".

I think the nail was hit on the head in this thread. It has to do with being religious. This girl I was talking to is six years younger but comes from one of these religious backgrounds. It makes me a little sad because I know a lot of people in these circles and she will be pressured into have a child because "it is the traditional thing to do".
