Hey everyone. I've recently moved to the area. I live just outside of Asheville. I'm a twenty year old, male, raised by a couple of rainbows and looking for some people I can relate to in the area. I'm not enrolled in school or currently working so it has been hard to meet like minded people. Any of you live around here? Any places I should check out in town? -Thanks- Peace
Hey man. I recently moved to Sanford. I heard Asheville was a pretty chill area and was thinking about checking it out myself. Be easy.
Hey man I live in Asheville. Welcome to the area! There are lots of chill people around, but it is hard to actually get to know people and make actual friends because everyone kind of has their own thing going on. At least that's what I've found..maybe I'm just too shy! Anyway, nice to meet ya *love and light*
Hey riverlily. "There are lots of chill people around, but it is hard to actually get to know people and make actual friends because everyone kind of has their own thing going on." That seems to be what I've found as well, although, all of the people I have met are pretty cool. It's Nice to meet you too. Do you goto school around here? Jeph, I plan on going to the show. looks like a pretty cool event. have you been before? what is the crowd/security like? mostly laid back? So whereabouts are you guys livin in the area? I'm living just ten or so minutes west of downtown, high on a mountain in some woods. I definitely prefer the rural parts of the area over the city. awesome views out here. With good weather and a heavy hike I can see downtown from the mountain. anyone do any hiking, kayaking/canoe, low intensity outdoor activies??
hey hb, that's kind of a long story...i went to warren wilson just east of asheville about a year and a half ago. i was there for a year, so i lived here then..just moved back a couple months ago. how bout you? what are you up to in avl?
if you have a ticket your all good no search. I went 2 years ago and had a blast Im excited for this year It just sucks the pre jams 100 bucks
I moved up here about half a year ago for a change of pace and scenery. I wanted to be somewhere that is laid back and not too big. I am a big fan of music, so the fact that there is always someone playing around town is pretty nice. blackriverlily, when you were at warren wilson did you ever meet two twin sisters, april and amy?
also, riverlily, I looked at some of the photos in your gallery. pretty cool stuff, your very talented. did you paint or stitch those jeans? I couldn't really tell in the picture.
hey hb, i know who the twins are, at such a small school, you kind of have to know who everybody is! but i didn't really know them...just knew of them, know what i mean? i use fabric dye markers to make jeans, like the ones in the pictures. some details are embroidered, but only as accents..just about everything is dye, ink, and paint. thank you!!
nice. I don't particularly know those girls either. they were friends with an ex-girlfriend of mine, same hometown, mutual friends kinda thing. how did you like that school? I've got some buddies who live in swannanoa who graduated from there. Its so beautiful around that area.
ahh i see. i loved wilson, it's a beautiful place with some wonderful people. didn't work out for me, long story, but i still have lots of friends there and hang out there all the time. it's such a gorgeous place, that's why i couldn't stay away!
yeah, I used to help out with food not bombs back in florida on occasion. I've caught some of the drum circles downtown though, pretty cool crowd.
looks like we've got pretty similar taste in music. I like it all, world music, classical, trance, etc. but when it comes down to it, I'm a sucker for some good ole rock. particularly on the improv/psychedelic side of things. also, on the topic of people looking for money on the street, I ran into a dude downtown yesterday who really went above and beyond most folks.....for starters, he was running and basically chasing down anyone who was around (it was 7ish not many folks out) and I could here his little speech from around the corner, anyways, I'm out in front of the grove arcade grocery making a phone call and he runs to me and then waits like two minutes for me to get off the phone. he proceeded to bust out his liscence and tell me his name, age, and birthdate...I was impressed by his tenacity and told him he could have whatever change I could find and as I'm diggin out some coins he runs over to another person across the street scaring the crap out of them....it was very amusing.
