Penicillin and pill

Hey, i got put on penicillin for tonsilitis and just finished taking the pills, anyone know how long till the pills fully effective again? i kept taking them while on penicllin, and was wondering how long it is before it stops effecting the pill, thanks

 

If I remember right, about two weeks, give or take. I would use extra protection (condoms, spermicide, etc) for a month after you stop taking the antibiotics (and of course, while you're on them!) Better to err on the side of caution. I had a pregnancy scare due to antibiotics and birth control pills b/c even though the same doctor prescribed both at the same time, he neglected to mention that little fact about the interaction and lowered effectiveness.

ask a pharmacist-- it's free, and they should definitely know. just go to a local pharmacy and ask for a counsel.
