    ok, he's FINALLY here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I woke up yesterday morning at 4am with an awful back ache. by about 6, i went to the washroom and passed a big chunk of the mucus plug. my contractions started to pick up right aound then every 10 minutes.
By 9am we had to go in to the hospital for the non stress test i was scedualed for. 2 nurses examined me and told me that baby was still waaaay up high, my cervix was soft but 0% and I was about 3 cms... and the one new nurse was trying to convince me all I was having were braxton hicks contractions, which pissed me off, since I know my body. anyway, before we were about to leave, they asked if we still wanted the cervadil, and since he was still up so high, i figured i'd give it a try to stimulate some contractions to push him down.
Well, they called the midwife in to insert the cervadil, but while i was talking to her, she saw me have these regular contractions, now abt 8 minutes apart. So, she decided to check me before she did anything. This was not even 30 minutes after the nurse had checked me, and the midwife said i was 5 cm, i can't remember how effaced she said my cervix wa, but it was more than zero, lol, and that baby's head was way down. She looked at me and said, "I'm not doing that cervadil, you're having this baby today."
i was shocked. that stupid new nurse comes back in and insists that she was still right, oy,.....
anyway, we went home at about 12 noon, I turned on a baby story, cody got me some lunch, and we began to time the contractions, which were now about 6-7 minutes apart and lasting more than a minute. By 1:30, they were 4 minutes apart and cody called the hospital. they told us to come in...and by the time we got there (5 minutes down the road), they were only 2 minutes apart.
The midwife came in with a couple nurses to check me...it was 2 pm by this point and I was 6 cms, 70%. I tried laboring a few different ways...walking was the best most of the time. there was this weord bouncy chair i sat in that helped for a whole 3 contractions. then i got into the tub, and spent the rest of the time there. i don't know if it made it worse or better, all i know is that by 4, i was screaming and crying. I sounded possesed. Its so tempting to ask for relef, but i didn't. i sure as hell screamed, 'i can't DO THIS ANYMORE!!!" I was swearing, screaming, whining, man, i was a pain in the ass!!! I even kicked and punched the water so hard i douced cody and the midwife.
the pushing was the best but worst part. it felt great to be able to use my contractions for something, but it didn't make it hurt any less. and it was more the pain from the pressure from the baby. once his head was coming out, my midwife grabbed my hand and i helped massage his head out. he was almost completely out when she realized his umbellical cord was only about 7 inches long and was twisted around his foot. so that took some uncomfortable manouvering. but then he was out by 4;36!!!!!!
he was 7 lbs 6 oz, 19 inches long. far cry from lea lea's 9 lbs 3 oz, 21 3/4 inches LOL!!!
I got out of the tub after holding him for about 30 minutes to hop in the shower while the midwife and nurses and cody cleaned him up. as soon as i got out, i hopped in to bed, he latched on to my boob like a pro, nursed for an hour, slept for 2 hours, nursed again from 8 to a bit after midnight, and then slept right through from 2 am until 7 this morning!!!
other than some very tender nipples and wicked after pains, the bfing seems to be going awesome. he's already pooped 2 times today...not sure about pee, which he could have done during the poop. which one is better, tho???
i picked up some purelan to help with the nipples, though. i think i may just have him on a little crooked sometimes and it pulling the nipple in a weird direction.
anywho, we were discharged at 8 am and have been home and already out to the store. i'm not one bit sore, either!!!
this birth was PERFECT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am so happy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! he's such a good baby, and cute as heck to boot! looks just like his daddy![IMG][IMG]

Aww, CONGRATULATIONS! And YAAAY! I'm so glad you had an "easy" labor ;)

Hot packs can help with sore nipples too... I had a bit of that after each kiddo too. Just microwave a damp washcloth for a few seconds & lie down with that.

CONGRATULATIONS :) Can't wait to see pics!!!
    love,
    mom

    thanks again everyone!
I still can't get over how such a perfect baby he is! Yesterday I was able to get Lea Lea's binkie (blankie) sewn up cuz it was ripped to shards, I made him some little gloves cuz he was scratching his face up, was able to bake some banana muffins, roast a chicken, bath Lea Lea with me like we usually do, and bath him. He's just so stinkin content LOL (knock on wood)
Our feedings are going awesome! My milk came in this morning, so needless to say, I'm in just a little pain and I feel like I have to huge ass water balloons stuck to my chest. If this is what boob implants ever felt like, it's beyond me why anyone would ever get them LOL
He's letting me get plenty of rest. We fell asleep watching TV last night and then headed off to bed around 11. He nursed about 2 to 3 times through the night, by 4:30, he was just happy lying awake and we stared at eachother for a good 30 minutes LOL, then we both passed back out till 8, he woke up for some milk, and then just went back to sleep :)
I'm just so twiterpated with him! I never want him to grow up! LOL

Kirstyn, I'm so happy everything is going so well and you feel so great, but honey, the midwife in me just gotta tell ya,

    SLOW DOWN!

You are doing way too much for just having had a baby, and you really need to take it easy or you will have a complete breakdown in a few weeks. This is a second baby and as easy as it was on you, your body still has to work twice as hard to get itself back together. The more you do, the more and longer you will bleed, and you can also put yourself at an increased risk of developing a breast infection.

I have a rule for my postpartum ladies, 5 days on the bed, 5 days by the bed, then 5 days in house, 5 days near the house. You should be laying in bed with your baby as much as possible, and your only job is feeding the baby while your man feeds you (and Leanne!). The house won't fall apart if you wait a week to get back into the swing of things, and Leanne won't suffer if you can't do the usual things you do with her for a few days.
Please, honey, it will be better for you and your family in the long run if you take it easy for the next few days.
