I hate how when I dye my dreads it always makes the hair feel really brittle. I dyed them a few days ago and they feel nasty, they're really fragile at the moment and I always worry after dyeing that they'll fall out or something (though I know thats not likely to happen) What can I put in them to combat the effects of the dye and keep them healthy? Thanks :D

when I used to colour my dreads, it really dried them out. I used to use aloe gel to get some moisture back. Seemed to do the job. When I colour my dreads now I use a spay, it's a gradual colour that getts brighter over time. Muchly better. :)

Ok, ordered the aloe gel :D Excuse my ignorance (ive never used this stuff before!) do I dilute it with water and rinse it through my dreads, or rub it in like hair gel, or what? :&

right on...definitely the best choice but the question was implying that this person wants to dye them.... I know that for myself the next time I start a set of dreads I will start fresh and no dye will touch my babies.. but when I started the ones I have right now I had already had my hair bleached so um yea... personal preference right?

some people swear by conditioner with all natural ingredients. I never tried it myself as I'm still waiting for some of my hair to lock up... but if your dreads are mature you may want to give it a shot.
