I'm not completely sure if all gatherings share the problem of old perverts and runaways, but the Ocala gathering (the two years I went) had a very visible population of runaways and perverts who preyed on them.


Ocala has a lot of issues. The combination of the many issues makes a place that you don't go if you want to have a relaxing time.

My opinion is biased due to twos years in a row of bad experiences and negative vibes of that gathering.

You forgot thre most important issue as to why folks avoid ocala gathering like a plaque.... it's always a permitted gathering, & the family had consensed in 1981 that no permits be signed for any gathering there after
Hence... if a permit is signed, it's offically not a rainbow gathering

well i agree that ocala can be the worse, but as u stated your basing this on 2 years of bad experiences
ive been to ocala..hmmm no idea howw many times, & yea ive had some not so great experiences (never anything bad, just disapointing) but other times have had some very good ones too..
i do inform new ppl of the problems with ocala ofcourse, but do recognise that every year ids different & a possibility for a better gathering there.
i find ocala to be 50-50% chance of it being a decent gathering.. 50-50 -chance of it being a good time eally sucks for a gathering...

the problem lies in the fact that the gathering happens evry year, & is expected, so all the ppl with nowhere else to go just automaticly gravitate to it..they go months in advance..shante sena & calm have very lil pressence..the ppl who typicaly go to make it an enjoyable experience are discouraged by all the bad reports so avoid it..
ive heard that many of the regionalsthat happen in thesame placeevery year havesimular problems, only not as pronounced, & i thnk the timming of ocala, & the fact that alotta homeless kids just want to get warm around that time of year has a big affect on it..

if there was a consensus to not have a regional in the same state more often then say every 3 years i think that would help solve the problem

there is a need for a southern mid winter gathering, but if it moved around, wasnt always expected to be in the same place, it wouldnt draw the rougher crowd that now floods into the area months in advance

i hate to say it,,its not the location of the gathering,,its the people at the gathering..

moving the location will not change who attends...
