I've lost count as to how many Ocala Gatherings I've been to. My first was 1977 and it wasn't called The Ocala Gathering, it was about 25 of us who gathered together in the woods for two weeks. Good times and bad, I live in central Florida and we do have a huge Rainbow Faimily from Gainesville-to Ocala, Groveland, Tampa, Hollywood and Palm Beach. Fall Ocala Council is coming up Oct 27, 28, 29th at Rainbow Hammock ( Dan & Donna's place). Usually about 30-35 people show up. Don't fear A-Camp...Little Hawk is banned from the Natoinal Forest right now. We always have Water, Recycling, Keg runs and plenty to smoke!!! Come Party in Ocala At "The Raven's Nest" We eat meat & drink beer....WELCOME HOME...

i thought the hammock wasn't doing council this year. i was informed they had their own ideas and that they weren't even going to do clean up this year. something about how donna has had enough of the swag. lol. how last year some hippie was crushed against a tree by a-campers car and the fire and the snakebite, all the road dogs, plus everyone wants her to lead calm cuz she's a nurse but she's really trying to get away. just what i heard. i was curious as to what is gonna happen to this years ocala.

1975 I met my first Ocala "Rainbow" and it grew till about 1980 (Was there in '77). Picked back up in '82 and council's from about '86 onward.

Road Dawg's & true family will NOT council on PRIVATE land it was reached in council.....on the land.

Council is usually called/decided by Flickerfeather (the focalizer) and is based on Hunting season(s) and the Magnolia Festival:

    http://www.magmusic.com/

Flickerfeather's in a differnet Mode this year so it will be curious how Ocala plays out this year......

Alexander Springs, Hidden Pond, FS24/27.............. whatever. I will be there!!!!

THERE WILL BE NO COUNCIL AT DONNAN AND DANS PLACE. I am an unofficial official spokes person for the rainbow hammmock tribe. my name is odd trip i do scout, council, sign the permit, meet with the law officials, c camp, trail blazeing, h20 supply, cook, build g funk, and do clean (not to mention i practically paid for all of clean up (2007) including hauling all the trash and the additional clean up in march thanks shut n eat it). donna and dan are very dear freinds as they are to lots of people, but i am sorry to say they will not be joining us this year in the woods , taking a year off if you will and personally i dont know many who deserve it more than them. so this year the family needs to STEP UP and NOT rely on these two beautiful souls. we are goin to need h20 equipment, a trash truck and yes some where else to have council.THERE WILL BE NO COUNCIL AT DONNAN AND DANS PLACE. got ideas, then share them. I LOVE YOU ALL, FAMILY. WE NEED TO PULL TOGETHER THIS YEAR NOT APART.

See how rumors are spread..... Lesser alcohol = Clearer Thinking

    Still Love ya Raven.

Thanks for steppin' up! I've seen these 2 lovely folks get burned by rainbow, er DRAINBOWS for years..... Several years now. DRAINBOWS have used them, got them kicked out of Ocala Tribal events and I could go on & on. Maybe its the land they live on. I lived once on top of GUMBO Clay & it seems to bring Negative energy. But more than likely it's just the changing of the seasons. AS-IN the younger arent being taught proper (Not Rainbows fault, GO HOLLER AT YOUR PARENTS...nicely). The now-a-days teacher have not been taught PROPER themselves.

No fault of ours..........The U.S. is falling, failing & down right fhucking itself in its own arse!!!!

Bless you all and bring the council Back to the 3rd Hammock at Farles or ANY other area that is ACTUAL National Forest. Council at Dan & Donna's was like asking a vegan to lie in a Pig carcass saying "You dont have to eat it".

Lovin' all family for listening and putting up with my FAT, Crabby & still learning self. Even in my late 50's, I learn so much from All of you!

You forgot thre most important issue as to why folks avoid ocala gathering like a plaque.... it's always a permitted gathering, & the family had consensed in 1981 that no permits be signed for any gathering there after :)
Hence... if a permit is signed, it's offically not a rainbow gathering :)

    1. Police and Strict Enforcement - I did 50 days in the Marion County Jail for not having Possession of my registration. Not to mention a $500 fine. Ocala Florida is a very wealthy area of Flordia. That area contains many retired people and lots of horse farms. Peeing in Public will get you a sex offender status.

    2. Lots of perpetually homeless people gather in Flordia from late October until Feb. The height of the gathering being Late Nov until January. A camp is the most visible at this gathering and it does get quite rough.

    3. Thieves - This is, arguably, the worst gathering for theft and ripoffs.

There are a few good people there and some local church groups who come in and help with food and emergency needs.

I'm not completely sure if all gatherings share the problem of old perverts and runaways, but the Ocala gathering (the two years I went) had a very visible population of runaways and perverts who preyed on them.

Ocala has a lot of issues. The combination of the many issues makes a place that you don't go if you want to have a relaxing time.

My opinion is biased due to twos years in a row of bad experiences and negative vibes of that gathering.

Is the Ocala gathering (please note my use of lower case "g") about a party? is a stereotypical Irish wake about a corpse? Is a Swiss Army knife about a corkscrew?

:jester: The Ocala Gathering will happen this year as it always does. Actually the permit isn't of any concern to most of those who attend. A few years ago the Family & Forest service agreed that there are 5 or so that were good for gatherings. Hopkins Prarie is next after being at Shanty, Lake Mary, Farles, FR27/24...winter holding is usually in one of the hunters camp since Buck Lake has been closed. Whith no scheduled council the site will be decided by those who are here first...LOVIN' YOU FAMILY!!!

    Raven,

Actually there are a few more sites than that. Hidden Pond and so-on.

And a Council date for Jan has been announced. You know the Hammock, the one ON the land.

    Just keeping it real......again.

I'm sure that Council at Farles will go on as it always has, weekend after hunting season, as it did when there was a Haloween Party/councel (please note my use of upper and lower case letters here) at Dan & Donna's. I never thought Dan & Donna's Haloween Party was intended as a replacement for the Councel @ Farles. I'm sure the smoke filled room politicking that went on at the Haloween Party councel will just move to another smoke filled room.

After speaking with the Forest Service Wildlife Management person, (Pat) most know her as the one that handles the permit. Next on our usual rotation is "Salt Springs" FR27/24. Last time we were going to use this site it was flooded from Hurricanes in 2004. Scouts will be looking at it this week as well as Hopkins Prarie. The Forest service asked that till hunting season is over... "PLEASE STAY IN HUNTER CAMPING AREAS" This means Farles Lake paid site and Shanty Pond paid site...Pastor Chris from LOGS is taking food to both sites this week. Happy Holidays to all...come to Florida, it's going to be 80 today!!!

From a Ususly Reliable Source on another group:

    "well, heres the scoop....
i stopped out in the woods when i was in florida last week,

there are no more year round holding camps...
as anyone with a brain knows, during hunting season you can only camp at designated "hunt camps"...buck lake was a hunt camp and thats why there were usually people there, especially during the oct, nov, dec hunting months....as most should also know, after hunting season is over, people can camp in any area thats not closed for 14 days....

well now all the old hunt camps are pay sites...the ones that arent pay sites are closed and gated off...buck lake is closed....farles lake is a pay site, as well as shanty pond, alexander springs, ect; ect; wich have been fee areas for quite some time......

there were when i left maybe 10 kids camping at farles....but its $5 a day and as soon as the forest service sends someone to collect the envelopes and that person speaks with the folks that had been camping out there before these drainbow kids showed up hoping for free food, and partying all night at a camp with nothing but elderly folks who had been used to quiet time at 9pm, well im rambling, but it is unavoidable that the forest feds will be made aware that these kids have been there for quite awhile without paying, after that it will be hard to find a legal spot for any type of holding camp before hunting season is over....being that i have already left the area there is a good possibility that this may have already happened....

as for the drainbow comment, these kids were out there with nothing..having come completely unprepared without even a pot to cook OR piss in...basically looking for "mama rainbow" to take care of them

so, thats the update on ocala holding camp this year...things look bleak for the future when it comes to having an extended camp prior to january...and i think this is fucking great....better for the woods, and better for rainbows reputation in general..... a shorter period of time in that forest more concentrated around the actual gathering may ease some of the long standing conflict with the local county cops, the forest service, and locals....

LOTS OF LOVE TO [alleycat&c]....while i was in the area he temporarily brought his bus, which included all neccesary kitchen gear, out to the forest and helped out the family that was there at the time....."

Hey Now. Tattoo Joe here once again. Had a long ( for me ) discussion with a Forst Service LEo named Jeff last night at Farles Lake. First thing he asked me was if I was aware that they are going to be enforcing the 14 day limit to stay in the forest. After which one has to LEAVE the forest completely for 16 days. I asked a few times what that meant, and he kept repeating 'everyone'. This didn't seem to affect the hunters, but more like it was specifically aimed at us rainbow types. I also asked the same question in a different form, like I said " Is that per vehicle?" And he kept evading on the answer and said 'everyone'. This of course doesn't affect the hunters. Just us nefarious freedom loving types. Of course, the hunters don't try to get out of paying to be in the forest. That was a bone of contention with him (them, the LEOs), nothing outright said- but he kinda nodded over towards the blissware-less kids and their messy camp. After talking to us he headed directly over to their camp and told them the same thing, with the added warning that tomorrow (today) they were coming out to audit the pay sites and will be ticketing anyone who hasn't paid. I later kicked down 5 bucks to them to pay for today at least, but I doubt they will. Anyways, I also asked what the scoop is with the gathering itself, and was told that he's a LEO, and the permit part is a completely different entity of the FS. He did say that Pat is still the permit issuer. Other than that, nothing new on the Ocala front at the south end anyways.
