I always appreciate the homemade stuff more than the gift cards and the socks etc., but there have been times when I needed the socks. But homemade ones would have been nice.

Earthgirl I am sure your moms will be pleased.

I am making another two by four rocking horse this year. I love making them and I know what type of paint I use and I can customize each horse to the kid, so no two are alike.

Over the years I've built over thirteen dollhouses too. They aren't Ipods or Wiis but I put a lot of thought and time into each one.

Careful with those latte cups a lot of the new imported China actually includes lead based glazes. I've noticed the warnings at Ross's and Big Lots.

    Thank You!

A Rocking horse will never go out of style! And it is something that gets passed down..I still have the one I recieved when I was a baby, and it is now being used by my kids!

The rocking horse and doll house are great to expand imagination ~ I think they are lovely gifts!

Lead paint in Latte cups... I didnt think of that.. I can always use flower pots...!!

Careful of anything with bright yellow or red glazes or color. We used to be pretty safe. There was a time with the Fiesta Ware and when you weren't supposed to use the red plates and cups because of uranium contamination. But I grew up and thought the US government protected our families from stuff that could harm our children. It was discontinued and consumers were alerted.

Turns out I was wrong. Now corporations import with immunity.

We wonder why there's an increase in autism and forms of cancer that previously were very rare. I think we know the answer.

I do. But right now the media air waves are as full of business stories on shopping trends as they are with actual news or humanitarian stories.

It's like our president telling us after 09/11 that the best thing we could do patriotically was shop, how inspiring was that?
