Ever think about the repercussions of exposing our children to these toxins. Sometimes not something that can be reversed. Politicians could use this in the future to control their labor forces. Retarded kids could be a good source of low paid wage earners. I am not a conspiracy theorist, but I wonder why the US government didn't monitor or step in earlier. And the toys weren't cheap toys only, many were highend toys. Like the pet food...most of the food that was involved was expensive pet food. Hey but the cheap price for toys was worth it wasn't it? It's a global economy and no one company is responisble. But are we going to be responsible to our children?
Because the corporations that bought the govenment don't want waves. Their profit is more important than public safety. I don't agree with the "docile population" theory, because the same mental state that makes people tractible for the Man also make them more likely to join a mob. The stampede towards a Walmart has the same psychological roots as a stampede towards the Bastille.
Those in France that stormed the Bastille, did it for a good cause I think, more so than shopping Walmart's polluted and corrupt stores.
Are you going to ask the candidates in the next election where they think the safety of our children falls. Do they feel the manufacturers should be protected before the consumer?
Leaders in all causes (both noble and ignoble) want followers who..well..follow. I don't plan on asking that question, I plan on using a different issue to determine how cleverly the candiates lie.
Repeal of the Miltary Commisions Act, Patriot Act and other actions to bring the law code into conformity with the Constitution. I am looking for a respect for laws that even government follows. (Perversly, a candidate who currently smokes weed loses points.) Of course their answers will first pass through a bullshit meter set on "high detection/ med.Low tolerance".
I worked for a paint manufacturer for many years. We manufactured lead paint. Long before the Government stepped in we quit making it due what independent research was finding. We worked hard to make products that stood the test of time, applied easily, could be scrubbed, and was environmentally friendly. One of the favorites in the lab was "wow, that looks good, but can you eat it?" That may sound funny but we actually tried to work in the edible direction. In the end we were targeted by a neighbor city that we had donated paint to for years. They attempted to sue us for lead in the paint we had donated to them. They used the paint to spruce up their poorest neighborhood's. In the end the owner sold to a National paint maker due to financial strain. This is where I'm going to get nasty because they have it coming. Turn away if your squeamish. Hey Milwaukee, F*UCK YOU. You took away what I poured my blood and tears into for all that time. You lost the suit and your shoreline still looks like sh*t, I mean those poor people that have to take all that time to teach their children NOT TO EAT THE WOODWORK. City of Milwaukee you are scum. You are the perfect example of what a City should strive not to be.
Might be off topic, but hasn't it been suggested/proven that chemtrails contain lead and other heavy metals? If that's the case, and chemtrails are government produced, then it's no wonder that they could give two shits about lead paint in toys. Hell, maybe they purposefully push for it.
Those things are important I agree. but I don't think the candidates will answer them honestly anymore than they answered the questions about posing war with Iraq. The population was sold that legislation based on securing their safety, while their children and pets have been fed poisons. It's time to use the same marketing strategy they use, to really sound them out. Why do you think the abortion issue comes up all the time before elections? Because everyone loves babies and children, but not enough to shut down chinese imports of toys that poisonous to them?
When deciding my priorities, I knew I was just picking which lies to listen to. But those are the lies I chose. If nothing else, it shows what lies they think the public wants to hear. A candidate who thinks that the lie "Screw Habius Corpus, I'll keep you safe" will get votes will make a different president than one who thinks the public prefers the "Habius Corpus is an important right and I will preserve it" lie.
Well there has been a whole new list of contaminated toys added TODAY. What are you buying your kids or grandkids this year for Christmas? Habeas Corpus no longer exists, nor does our guarrantee against unreasonable search or seizure, or cruel or unusual punishment. Bush wants to know what his legacy is...that is what he has accomplished, hope his mom and dad are proud. To paraphrase Clint Eastwood: Do you feel safer? Well do you punk?
Is there a safe list anywhere? What worries me is what about the toys we already have... Ive been thinking about the mention of play food.. I dont have the box anywhere but Im sure we can assume they were made in China... those toys go in everyones mouths... even mine!
That's my concern exactly. And now they are telling us not buy a home test kit and test the stuff ourselves. What do you do? Just throw everything out made since say the eighties? I don't think lead paint has been used domestically for stuff like this since the late fifties. I think there were consumer safety laws in effect then.
You can check the recall lists on the Consumer Product Safety Commission's website (cpsc.gov). There are lots of toys listed on there, but those are only the ones that are documented. Evidently the toy retailers are more focused on making a buck than on public safety, and government oversight is inadequate. The only way to make a difference may be to hit them where it hurts the most: the pocketbook. Boycotts and law suits may force the retailers to take a more active roll in ensuring their products are safe, provided it's best for their bottom line.
I've seen Christmas lights with lead based paint (printed on packaging) and Polish spring water with the chemical code for lead (and not a zero) on the nutrition label, so this stuff isnt hardly regulated at all.
The recall lists are so long it takes forever to make sure your kids toy isn't on it. And the fact that it isn't on the list doesn't guarrantee it doesn't contain lead, only that it hasn't been recalled.
Exactally ^^ It does help that they have pictures tho! Makes it alot easier to identify the toy. I recently recycled a bunch of questionable bath toys... Not only do they constantly go in the mouth, they are a breeding ground for mold... but thats a whole other story in itself!
