I'm really interested in getting creative and building a waterfall bong. I've made the hole in a SoBe bottle and now all I need is something to put in the bottle cap that somewhat resembles a bowl. I don't have a bowl that remotely fits or works and I wanted to know if there were any suitable substitutes for a bowl to use on my creation. Please let me know.
i don't think my salt shaker lid will fit onto the SoBe cap but that's an awesome idea. I'll definitely use it sometime...
a socket with a screen from an ordinary sink faucet? cut a hole in the lid put the socket in there and use some chewing gum to fill in the gaps and make it air tight. i think that would work pretty well AH HAH!!! I am finally no longer just a guest! 100th post!!! whooooo!!!
i can just get a socket from a hardware store right? i don't think my dad has any laying around and it would be rather random to walk up and ask him for a socket without expecting a full on Question and Answer session.
^metal with paint and a coating of plastic.... what i used for bowls in homemade bongs when i was underaged and couldnt just buy a pipe whenever i wanted was the cap that comes with a brass cone incense burner. just turn it upside down and pack a small bowl in there. its a brass cone with some holes punched in the side. just make sure if you get one (they're cheap) that the holes are close enough to the bottom of the cap that when turned upside down you'll have a large enough space to pack as big a bowl as you like....dont get one that has holes all over it or anything.
Some pens have metal tips that can unscrew, flip it upside down and its a baby bowl. Actually, you can use the body of the pen as the down stem in a water bottle bong. They, just tape it until its water tight and hit away. You just have to pick them up with pliers because they get hot.
i used to use the pen tips, too. they work, but they're tiny. truly one-hitters....sometimes if you're lucky you can get two hits out of one. but they may be plastic-coated, too, like pop cans....i'm really unsure. either way, you should avoid using a downstem made from plastic at ALL COSTS. even with the tiny one-hit makeshift pipes i've seen them get hot enough after a hit or two to melt plastic. if you keep trying to smoke, you'll be directly inhaling plastic fumes, even if its not burning or smoking. find an old junk portable tv or radio or something and cut off a bit of the antenna. its hollow, and thick enough to take either a pen tip or the top of the incense burner. i used to have a homemade bong made from a big cleaned out ovaltine jar with a metal lid. it was huge. i poked two holes in the lid, and had one bit of antenna going far into the jar, but with enough distance from the bowl to the lid of the jar that i could hotglue it in place and it wouldnt melt. in the other hole a bent piece of the metal tube was used as a mouthpiece, and only went about half an inch into the jar. it could be filled about three quarters of the way with water and ice. then i would pack several pen tips with weed, smoke one, and use something metal or wooden (like a paperclip, a knife, or a pencil) to knock the spent tip off of the tubing (it was held on only by gravity, but the seal was tight enough to work beautifully) being able to quickly knock the hot but spent bowl off of the tube effectively made it work like a bong with a slide...it substituted for a carb, and the thing hit like a motherfucker. ugly as sin, but one of the most effective bongs i've ever smoked. and the pen tips get hot and stay hot for a minute or two, so i always had a couple on hand packed in advance, so i could take a couple good hits in a row without waiting for it to be cool enough to touch again. anyway, i still recommend the brass incense thingy. it works the same as a pen tip but holds over twice as much.
same paint on an aluminum can, which is used for smoking, the same metal (aluminum) and you can burn off the plastic before smoking
ive made a few pipes using pen tips as well. another thing you could try would be to just goto a hardware store and look around, im sure you could find some pretty bad-ass stuff to work as a bowl that we haven't mentioned or even thought of yet ourselves.
this could work for your sobe bottle thing, but... well, i´ll just start talking. i saw a picture once of a bong made from a red pepper and a carrot. since peppers are hollow, you can make puncture holes to make it into a bong. you´d hollow out the carrot with something really thin and pointy (a bamboo "skew-er" for shish kabobs might work) and then dig out a little cone-shaped bowl. stick that into the pepper at an angle and that´s your "slide." then you can add a mouth-hole for inhaling and a carb. you might need to open the top and really hollow it out, but this is the basic idea. so if you can find a carrot big enough, maybe try that? they´re readily available and cheap. otherwise, try to get your hands on a little glass slide from a headshop. find someone older than you to get it for you. then just use that to your heart´s content.
never used a carrot...sounds like it would work tho, i always used an apple when it comes to smoking out of foods.
