Okay, you're in this subforum, so you obviously like at least a little bit of metal. But, there is a difference between listening to certain music and letting your taste in music define you. Plus, the great majority of people here like other styles besides metal. So. Do you consider yourself a metalhead or not? Maybe only a little? Explain your answer if you can.
what about metal groupie? cause i'm more like the blonde chick at the side of the stage all black leather and sluttiness that's more me..or like the girlfriend of the metal head
i wouldn't call myself a metalhead. i would call myself a musichead in general. for i am one of those many people who enjoy many types of music. granted some styles more than others, but all can be musically and lyrically poetic. and then again you have the repetitive; it took a real genius to write songs that i still listen to.
I would call my self a metal head in that about 98% of music I listen to falls into some category of metal, the other 1.5% being rock and .5% misc. Ive loved metal since I herd my first Sabbath album (paranoid) and have enjoyed my journey through the genres of metal so far and dont intend on stoping any time soon.
My older brother used to listen to Manowar, Pantera, and Sepultura when I was 6 years old in the room. It just grew on me from a very early age. I'm not a metalhead by any means. I have a little metal side to me, and I think that I have pretty good taste in contemporary death/drone bands... but metal isn't my favourite genre, there so much diversity out there... metal is just one of many worlds.
I listen to any type of music which has certain characteristics that I like- ambient, experimental, dark, or generaly music which shows emotion or does something unique. This has led me to liking many styles of music, much of it happens to be metal. The difference for me was I entered metal through other genres. While most metal heads from a young age listened to guns and roses and ac/dc etc and work there way to more extreme styles, I just went straight to black and doom metal. I still dont like metallica and other traditional metal bands. In other words I listen to metal as a side-dish to my larger plate of music. Although some people call me a metal head, I dont really consider myself one because I have met some extreme metal fans who's diet is strictly metal.
nope i'm not "in this forum" because of anything, other then the poll appeared at the top of the music section and i'm a "poll whore". i'm just an opiniated curmudgeon who likes to put my thumb on the scale of any poll that remotely interests me. loud doesn't do it for me. odd and interesting does. emo doesn't do it for me either, which kind of puts me at odds with most of the world of art criticism in many contexts. =^^= .../\...
There's plenty of odd and interesting metal around, anyone here could give you countless examples. And I don't think emo does it for the majority of people on hipforums. I don't consider myself a metalhead either, on account that I've got a broad taste in music, don't actually like 98.5% percent of metal bands, don't conform to the image in the slightest most of the time, and I think metalheads are prejudiced, narrow-minded assholes who think it's their right to bash everything that isn't metal enough for them, something I've gotten extremely sick of. And I know that's stereotyping, but a surprising amount of metalheads fits that stereotype like a glove.
I love many types of metal. I couldnt pick a favorite. Its all very appealing to me. It really does grow on you. I have transformed many friends that are really country into metalheads.. taking them to concerts/giving them cds/ etc. Its kind of funny when I think about it.
I think I would consider someone a metalhead when the majority of the music you listen to is metal. Since that isn't the case with me I don't see myself as a metalhead. I once was though, many moons ago and I still like me some good metal every now and then.
I'd consider myself a metalhead. Metal is my favorite genre of music, although my taste is hardly limited to it. I'm really into classic metal from the 70s and 80s especially the more obscure stuff. I think it's awesome that there is a metal forum on this hippie page; I've had this dream of forming a metal band of true hippies, which seemed like an unlikely possibility. I met another metalhead hippie a month ago and we are planning on forming a hippie metal band. She plays guitar and I play bass, all need now is a drummer. Long Live the Dream!!! Peace and Love
Its my main genre, and I wear band T-Shirts and stuff as well. My favorate bands are metal..... But I listen to a lot of other stuff and so wouldnt class myself as a metal head.
I like a LOT of metal bands- saw dozens of em in the 80's. But my fave bands are New York Dolls and Hanoi Rocks. Any metal head fans of those bands?
I dont consider myself a metal head...but i probably listen to some of the hardest metal on earth...i stoped listening to a lot of metal though...i need something harder and faster than anything thats out there today...ive gone back more to the proto-punk, jam bands, and crust stuff lately... But hey...if any of you metal heads know really hard metal that you wanna recommend then go for it and ill give it a listen
Have you considered downloading a drum computer program, filling every step of every beat and setting the speed at 999 bpm and the volume all the way up? I mean, if you're only concerned with how hard and how fast it is...
