Hi, I was wondering if anyone out there had any tips for how to start growing mushrooms. I've googled it and know the basic process, but I was wondering if anyone had any specific recommendations based on past experiences.
keep clean, don't try to berth early (never works) and expect to spend 3 months at it, till you get it down right. J.C
I thought it didn't take that long for the mushrooms to propagate? Or are you saying 3 months because it will most likely become contaminated the first couple times? Also, is there a way to sterilize the substrate you're growing them on without a pressure cooker? I don't have one.
I say 3 months cause everyone screws up at lest once. If you are using brown rice flour and verm then you can boil them in a stock pot, just add water every 30 mins or so (boil the water you are adding in a sperate pot for best results) But if you are using any other kind of growing medium like rye or wheat flour then a pressure cooker is a must. Stock pot $20 Pressure cooker $60 J.C
One more tip for you bro. Be careful with incubation temperature. Even though many sources say 86 degrees is best you must keep in mind that the mycellium in your jars will generate some of its own heat. They'll do best 78-82 degrees in my experience. I wish you luck and send good growing vibes your way! Pround member of the Shroomotopia team.
