Hey Everyone! I'm new to the forum and I'm trying to get my grow on. Right now the jars are incubating but unfortunately I believe they might be contaminated... It has been over a week now and I have this white growth spreading throughout my jars. On one hand the growth is pure white in color and doesn’t look too different then some pictures I’ve seen online, but on the other hand I haven't seen any mycelium growth. I'm not to sure how to get my pictures of my jars up on the forum but if someone is willing to help me out, I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks a lot
The white growth is mycellium man. Mycellium can be stringy(rhizomorphic) or fluffy. The only white mold would be Cobweb mold, but it doesn't sound like you have that. Do you have your pics hosted online at like photobucket.com or another hosting service? If you do you could just post the pics url. Or when your posting click the little thing on the toolbar that looks like the picture of some mountains. A window will pop up. Put the pics URL in the window click ok. And there you go. Thanks Man! I just took a closer look all around my jars and now I see the stringy stuff you were talking about. Phew that’s a relief. Hey I also have another question and I might make a new thread if no one sees it here but when is the best time to harvest new spores from the shrooms I grow? Let me know what’s up! Thanks!
Right as the veils tear open. Just cut the cap off with a sterile knife and sterile hands. Place this on a piece of foil. Put a glass over it. Leave over night. Remove the cap in the morning. Put the glass back on top to allow it to dry for a little while more. Then just fold it up like an envelope put in a plastic bag or sumthin and place in fridge. Now you have a stored print.
