Of course some people think I'm weird because i don't eat meat, but I don't let it bother me. But that doesn't mean it is right of them to think that way. I wish that all these threads under the title vegetarian would possible open some minds up. I am not asking to convert you, I just want to pass on the facts, and share some of my beliefs. Fucking great if you do decide to stop eating meat. But it almost seems like these threads are pointless, yes us vegetarians like to communicate with others like us, but then in every single one some meat eater comes in and acts like a JERK. No im not saying all meat eaters are jerks, but all i see from you guys is closed mindedness regarding the issue. Please stop being so defensive, and open up + learn some new things. Some day you just might think like me.

This issue comes up time and again. As far as I understand it, this forum exists for veggies to communicate with each other. If meat-eaters have a problem with anything said in here, they should either question it politely, or else fuck off. I'm sick and tired of threads being trolled by meat-eaters.

    Which is cool :)

Guys like you are welcome here. And don't even think the majority of us have problems with people who aren't sympathetic, so long as they can discuss things politely and not hijack every thread.

I think her point was simply that you don't grow or learn anything new if you keep a closed mind.

everybody is different [unless your a part of some mainstream organised religion/cult and have been programed to followed blindly] thats a fact!, and i think its just a part of human nature that we are scared of what we dont understand, thats why i think we get defensive and become arrogant. everybody does it at some point. we just have to learn to tolerate diversity and grow up!!! blah blah etc!!!

I don't understand the meat eaters logic on the hip forums. Theres a vegetarian forum, so they decide to come in and bash something that is pro-vegetarian and anti-meat eating. They choose to come into a forum which clearly says "Vegetarian" and should know what to expect when they open up a thread and begin to read. Then they get all pissy when we defend ourselves, and expect us to act more "civil"

Lord, they can rant all they want about vegetarians, and how they disagree with out practices (although I don't see why most of them do...), but can do that somewhere else. Obviously it would make the most sense to rant about vegetarians in a non-vegetarian forum, so a huge online war won't be started. Of course I've found that a lot of omnis post anti-veggie things in this forum simply to start fights, with the thought in mind that they are still the right ones. Its good to have your own opinions and beliefs. That doesn't mean they should be attempting to force their pro-meat eating beliefs on to anti-meat eating individuals.

And I've also noticed that a lot of them are opposed to a vegetarian forum even existing. And then I see some working to put up an omni forum, and wondering why that veggies only get a special forum. Perhaps thats because vegetarianism, is, in a sense an alternative life style, I mean after all that is why it is under alternative lifestyles. And this is why we need a forum. Because few of us exist, and its good to converse with others who possess the same beliefs and rare eating habits;because its good to be reminded that there are others out there who realize what factory farming is, and work against the meat industry.

Omnivores on the other hand, can go out on the street, and almost every person who passes them by will be an omnivore. Grab one random person and have a conversation about eating meat. Vegetarians, like I said, are more rare, so that is less likely to happen.

I'm not saying that omnis cant have a forum of their own though, they can if they want. Free speech is free speech: just use it in a way that wont start an online war.

...if they dont agree or care about your facts?

    Then don't read them.

If the forum is so stupid and offensive, simply don't visit it.

    Problem solved.

That's kind of a silly question, no one thinks alike therefore no one can agree on every issue. I have to get to know someone to decide if they are close minded.

And are you aiming this at me? I didn't "give you any facts."

Yes, i know i ignore a lot of the ones i can tell will make me mad, but some are very interesting until someone's ignorance gets in the way.

I'm confused at who you are talking to.

Maybe we should start a mass use of the 'ignore' faeture? If we all start to place such individuals on our 'ignore' lists, it'll be hard for them to come here and start an argument when nobody is litening to them?

I never use ignore buttons. There might be one person talking to the person on ignore and you have no clue about what's going on.

Many people fit under the third definition of people for who this forum is about.

No megara, what they mean is, If you are a meat eater, don't come in here being a dick and asking stupid questions thato nly make vegetarians look stupid, come in here with respect to everyone, and if you are actually curious or wondering about something, feel free to ask with repsect and politeness, don't come in here bashing us.

    Peace and Love,
    Dan
