There's really no actual point to this post. I just wanted to share something cool that transpired while meditating today. I only slept for four or so hours last night, so I've been feeling like crap today. I decided to take a 45 or so minute nap on the couch (I told my little sister to wake me up when the clock "four one nine", as she can't tell time yet). I laid down and discovered that my mind was way too much in the awake state to sleep, but I still felt like I needed to rest, so I just concentrated on closing my eyes and .... "healing" them.... I'm not sure if that's what I was actually doing, but basically I just watched the traces of harsh light (I had just been driving in the extremely bright sun) disappear. I did this for awhile, and then decided to focus on relaxing all the muscles in my body. When I got to my head, I "saw" (with my eyes still closed) a purple sphere. I knew that the sphere represented my head, and the purple was all the tension. I then started to concentrate on washing the purple away with green, the opposite color. (I've always had a strange relationship with colors. When I was little, I constantly saw magenta spots everywhere. I apparently have 20/20 vision and never got the strange blob-seeing checked out because my mom didn't believe me when I told her. Also, when I'm really tired, I can see pretty vibrant colors and patterns when I close my eyes.) Before I knew it, the tension headache was gone. I never actually slept but when I opened my eyes, I felt almost completely rejuvenated. I've never really meditated before, but it seems as if this would definitely count as meditation. If so, wow, I'm sold. I'll definitely have to do this more often.
When you meditate, you'll find that you need sleep less. Meditation relaxes the body and does rejuvinate it just like sleep does. But to get the full benefits of meditation, do it to realize God.
