Sheila Escovedo (Sheila E) Cindy Blackman (drummed with Lenny Kravitz, I believe) Honey Lantree (sp) (honeycombs) Caroline Coor (coors) Moe Tucker Georgia Hubley and Karen Carpenter played on tour
Debbi Peterson (Bangles) Samantha Malone (Hole) Janet Weiss (Sleater-Kinney) I actually had a huge argument about this as a teenager. Nearly lost a friend. He maintained that the lack of women drummers in the world signified the inferiority of women generally (did I mention we were 15 at the time?). Anyway I wish I had been more experienced I could have argued that *not* being a drummer is the next evolutionary step ;-). Just kidding I love drummers, they are hightly inteligent socially aware...Oh who am I kidding they won't be able to read this! ;-) I'm more concerned with the lack of Lady lead guitarists.
