i hate cough syrup. but right now i'm loving me some sparks. yeeeccchhh. like, i take a sip... "mmmm, sweet and fruity...." then 10 seconds later, "yeeeecccchhhh." then like 30 seconds after that i forget how bad it tasted. i take another sip. "what was i thinking? this is delicious!!!" then sure enough, 10 seconds: "yeeeeeeccccchhhhhhh." aaaahhhh, the joy of sparks.... yeeeccchhh.
haha... natty ice! good thing i'm such a light-weight now; i can get drunk for less money. used to be vodka, vodka, vodka when i was in college. my tiny russian roommate thought it was her birthright to drink "vwoshka", but she couldn't handle her alcohol (got drunk on like 1/2 a beer), so we always had a lot of extra vodka around the place. i had waaaay more alcohol tolerance then. now i'm the one getting drunk off of beer (or sparks, as the case may be...) natty ice.... hahaha ..... yeeecchhh.
hahahahahha yeeeecchhhhh for sure on that natty . . . i got me a case. enjoing some appleton silver and johnnie red now. J-red is the second scotch ive tried (first being chivas regal) and i must say i like this better, even if $10 less per fifth
sparks doesnt sound good at all to me. if i am given one for free i'd try it, but i'll never buy it. but, sometimes i do drink nasty shit, too....tonight i've got a tallboy of steel reserve, then another of miller high life....mmm mmm......blech
those are both alright. the black label is much better than the red, though the red label isnt too bad for a blended whisky. someday when you feel like spending a little extra cash on a bottle you ought to try a good single malt....i'd recommend isle of jura or the maccallan....both brands i like.
Yea the cashier at brown derby recommended the black, but i figured i should start with a cheaper bottle, as the chivas wrecked my stomache after the first shot. i definately will try a single malt in the not-too-distant future and will shoot for one of those, what are they priced like?
it depends on region, probably. lots of booze seems to. but for me i can get a bottle of isle of jura 10 year for like 32 bucks if i remember properly, and maccallan 12 yr for 45....a bit pricier than some, but when you emerge into the world of "fine" whiskies you'll find far, far, far more expensive bottles that i'll never be able to afford. someday, if i have a lot of money, i might splurge for a 100 dollar bottle of something good, but i cant see that anywhere in the next couple years at all unless circumstances change drastically....oh well, i'll be content with a 40 of schlitz red bull and a tallboy of miller lite tonight a big buzz for 3.18...
chivas is a bit different, from what i can tell. i havent tasted them side by side as i can only ever afford one bottle at a time, and these days scotch is a particularly rare indulgance for me due to the pricetag, and as i hate super cheap liquor more than i hate super cheap beer, i tend to not buy liquor at all. once in a while i'll get rum, gordons vodka or gin, or some cuervo though, if i have a bit to spare. but anyways chivas strikes me as being sweeter. i like it a lot, but its pretty pricey for blended scotch. it was the last scotch i bought though. a glass of maccallan cask strength sounds good, though.
I'll probably pick up the jura(would be most ive ever spent on a bottle), though not for at least a month or two though. I've been splurging alot as it was just my birthday and thought I would try a few things. I agree with the chivas being sweeter, but it was a long time ago so I'm not really sure. I too will drink super cheap beer (natty ice and busch in my fridge) but not super cheap liquor . . just wont touch it.
i got a 12pack of busch tonight at the gas station....also spent almost as much to get a 22oz bottle of hennepin...started with one busch, now i'm almost done with the hennepin. next i might start in on another busch, but probably wont drink beyond that tonight...
well, I'm no connoisseur and I love Sparks. two black bullets puts me in a killer groove. it does have that sickly-sweet taste, but I find the same applies far more to jagermesiter, which has always reminded me of cough syrup, albeit really tasty. not that Sparks and Jager taste anything alike, but ya'll know what I mean. I'd take coffee with Baileys or a jagerbomb over a Sparks, though. in my opinion, alcohol is the only substance that works well with caffeine (aside from nicotine, of course). arty:
anything from brewery ommegang has been delicious IMHO, and cheaper than some other premium beers (delerium tremens/nocturnam/etc.) that come in a 750ml bottle (or equivalent)
during the spring i drank nothing but sparks for the longest time... im surprised they didnt burn a hole in my stomach... gross..
i used to drink sparks (and tilt, etc.) before i developed a taste for beer. now the stuff disgusts me. sickly sweet.
I've never had it, but it doesn't sound too appealing to me but it's making me want some Jaegermeister. I don't know why I've been craving it so much lately... lol
