1. The Hipforums announces it first ever fundraiser. After nearly 30 years online, we must ask our members and guests to help support the website. Thanks to years of ongoing financial support of our members, advertisers and volunteer admin staff, we have been able to keep the forums alive.

Now we must ask for help as available funds have all been used for our Internet server and other fees.

So please donate any amount to our PayPal account donate@Hipforum.com to keep the site going. If we can get enough for a few months fees, we won't need to nag you again!

You could also subscribe to the forums and get an upgrade to Supporter or Lifetime Supporter here

Im pretty sure all the musicians you know and love have at some point dabbled. Ive worked in music for a few years and couldnt name anyone who doesnt have a 'time they tripped out' on x,y or z story.

Guess it comes from the creative side of em, and trying to deal with that side in a world which often fails to understand. Possibly its just the boredom of sat on a tour bus for hours and hours then sat in a venue for hours and hours waiting to play.

Jimi wasn't a junkie. He liked to take drugs, yes. But that doesn't make you a junkie! Unless you get addicted.

Vedder wasn't a real junkie either...One of his famous quotes is "I dont need drugs to make my life tragic."

Its true. The same goes for many poets, authors, and artists. Using drugs seems to go hand in hand with an artistic mindset. As a poet myself, I find that my own intuitive grasp of my interaction with the world around me is expanded exponentially with the use of drugs. However, as Eddie Vedder's quote posted earlier says, "I don't need drugs to make my life tragic". But, they are certainly a useful portal to "the other side".
