ok... just an idea. first section your hair into whatever size. you will need looooong hair. break each section into four even sections. if your hair is reallllly loooong like huge back comb each sub section. whether you backcomb each subsection or not, use some of that styling gunk or wax or something to hold it together like a rope. then do the weird round braid thing in the link. when you reach the end, ruberband it super tight. then palmroll. next wash out all that gunk with "deep cleaning concotion" and bronners. then dry. wrap in hemp if you want. will greatly shorten you hair like make it a quarter of the length or less or somethin' like that. http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://armyadvice.org/images/Paracord/t_DSC00016.jpg&imgrefurl=http://armyadvice.org/blogs/armysteve/articles/9736.aspx&h=640&w=853&sz=40&hl=en&start=2&um=1&tbnid=JQcW3pca8CZX5M:&tbnh=109&tbnw=145&prev=/images%3Fq%3D4%2Brope%2Bsquare%2Bbraid%26ndsp%3D20%26svnum%3D10%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DN
I believe it would make super tight dreads almost instantly. obviously it would take many hours to do though.
you can't be serious? YOu should probably read the stickies to get a feeling for what the majority of people in this forum believe regarding locks.
wax? absolutely the wrong way to go ya do it this way & you'll only have a mess & what the hells a perfect dreadlock? lol dreadlocks should all be unique as a fingerprint hair length dont matter much, mine i started at 2 inches about..the method u describe with the braiding like technique & tight bands (even if u skip the massive mistake of the wax) would take much longer to dread & would probly result in funky lumpy dreads long hair would dread in weeks if u just let it be most ppl with long hair find the process starting every night when they sleep, & simply not combing for bout 2 weeks & seperating the clumps as they form would do the trick backcombings ok tho for shorter hair to get it started.. but..never wax..never ever... spanks bad dready
yeaaa... I'm not too sure what to think of this. I do not agree at all and I do not feel its very good advice. PLEASE stay away from wax, once its in its almost impossible to remove if the hair is still locked up.... If you do this you'll probably end up having to cut your hair off with the mess you made. JMO...
did you guys all miss the "theory" part? along with the washing out the wax part? Also the wax is just to hold the sub-sections together for the square braiding. because it is hard to square braid pretty much anything but rope
sorry...... i know you allz be like "natural" but it is just an idea by "perfect" I meant very tight.
theories are meant to be tested. wax isn't really that simple to wash out. it's not like you take a shower and it's gone. people on this forum have spent months trying to get one night of waxing out of their hair. it can be really detrimental to your hair and to the dreading process. i know my hair would fall right out if i tried to knot it like that. i can tie knots in my hair and it just falls right out. if it works for you, more power to ya, but i am okay waiting for my dreads to tighten on their own.
This method might make "dreadlock-looking" sections of hair, but it wouldnt be dreadlocks. Dreadlocks knot up from tangling, and what this method would result in is hair that wouldnt be able to tangle up on it's own..... it would probably never mature, tighten on its own, or evolve.
yea my point exactly, this method would take forever to actualy dread..if it ever did a better metod would be to take 1 section, split it randomly & braid, but each time, resplit at random so its not a nice neat braid, but the sections cross randomly,
"theories" are presented to others to be scrutinized and work out the kinks from. Don't get all offended when others don't agree or tell you what they think might happen. Thats apart of having a "theory".
I'm not offended I just wos wondering if anybody noticed. I didn't say you needed wax I said you could use styling gunk instead /(watersoluble)
Do you have any god damn idea what the word theory means? Because it doesn't appear as if you do. A theory is something with a huge body of evidence to support it. A theory is a step under scientific law. Also, if you use wax, you deserve what happens to your hair afterwords.
just saying from personal experience with wax I used it on my first set of dreadlocks before I knew not to. I had to comb all my locks out to even remove it and it pulled A LOT of my hair out. I found out my dreadlocks were going to fall off anyway from how it was in the core of them. Needless to say I've cut all my hair off and 2 years later I feel ready to do them again since my hair is finally back to normal. There taking their good old time though, hehehe.
