Why do people care about gay issues?

Why do people care about gay issues?

Hopefully people care about gay issues-(gay rights)-as these issues encompass just a fraction of what HUMAN issues/rights concern altogether.

I can't really see the point of the 'question' beyond that...............

 

I actually like most gay people. I find them just like any other normal straight person. I have nothing against gays what so ever.

 

Please don't find me like any other normal straight person...normal is creepy enough, whatever normal means, but, straight, spare me sweet jesus, I hope not.

Yeah, Sam, You're right, I think it was offered with good intent. For that I thank you 'what2do'. Lately I've been taking personal inventory and realize (again) how different we gay folks are from our straight friends. What a really nice balance we make in the overall scheme of humanity. Having lived this long as a gay man, I am anxious to give back to other folks some of the peace I have found. My kids have given me a great vote of confidence too, they assure me that had I been straight, I still would never have made it to normal...thats was nice of them to recognize that...

No one could have put it better than Mama K has.I care because I don't like to see my fellow humans denied some of the rights that we straights take for granted and be treated like freaks, for any reason.I lived In SF in 1960 and across the street from where I lived was a lesbian bar.It took a few times going in for the patrons to feel comfortable with me being there,but eventually I became friends with some of the folks.One Saturday night ,the cops swooped in and actually arrested all the women that had suits and ties on!!Why?Fuck if I know --but I was told it happened frequently.Yeah--I care when weird --thinking straight fuckers harass people for merely expressing themselves.And that goes for anyone else who's "differant"from the so-called norm.

 

you know, my dad, he's about as straight as a person can get. decorated war veteran, social as hell, alpha dog who doesn't give a shit about what people think of him or his friends. he loves people completely. he put together a big hash run and party at this place called the rainbow bar. he had no idea what that meant, but he made so many friends that day. he met my piano teacher at the Y and he lived down the street with his partner. before him, i never met anyone who was so totally and completely capable of knowing how to just accept people as they are and treat all of them the same. i mean, truly the same. even i check my words out of fear of hurting. dal was just dal. and people just knew it. good man, my dad. probably part of the reason i never had any issues about my sexuality, except keeping him from getting my playboys and hustlers before he did.

 

I care because it shouldn't matter whether or not people are gay/bi/straight/trans/questioning/etc. Everyone should be free to participate in society and partake of all of its benefits regardless of all of that. Unfortunately, that isn't happening. One big thing is marriage...only straight people can fully and completely marry the type of people they're sexually attracted to here in the "free" USA. (What I mean by "fully and completely": In Massachusetts, even though gay marriage is legal, the federal government doesn't recognize those gay marriages. So there is no full and complete gay marriage here in the USA.)

Until others will just live and let live, I will definitely care about gay issues!

Gays are just as good as anyone else. Just because some one is born gay makes them no different than anyone else. There is good and bad in all people. Sexual gender does not make some one good or bad, its what's inside of a person.

Im sorry sir, I generally have respect for my elders, and I didn't mean to get personal. So sorry...Im on a gay forum because I have been questioning my sexuality, and it has been a very difficult time in my life. I dont know what a buy bull thumper is, and I don't believe in a fairy that watches over me, frankly Im not sure what you're getting at...Id rather not kiss your ass, but I hope you can forgive me. I happen to believe that porn is destructive to intimate relationships, and gives people warped ideas about sex that trickles into their real lives which in my opinion is not healthy. I also think that makers and distrubutors of porn are slimeballs who prey on peoples weaknesses just to make a buck. They don't care how many lives the ruin in the process, so i don't like to support it. But on second thought, maybe thats just how it is for me, and if it works for you who am I to be the judge of that. No hard feelings

 

I have never ever heard any gay man say porn was bad. In fact most "straights" consider all gay sex porn. All porn is, is sex. If a man sucks another man's cock and some one takes a photo of them sucking and places that photo for others to see that is called porn. If a man is naked with or without an erection and some one takes their picture and places it where others can see it that is called porn.
A lot of gay men get turned on to looking at pictures of other men naked and in so cases that is their only outlit to sex or in some cases their only source of sexual release from pent up feelings.

The only persons against porn are Christians and Jews. Fundy Christians are called buy bull (as in buying the bullsh-t bible) thumpers (as in thumping on the bible when preaching) and who believe homosexuality is a choice and a sex so bad that it is alright to go out and kill gay people as a sure sign you will get into heaven.

Anyone that is down on porn is considered either a Christian, a Muslim or Jew (but most Jews are no longer against gays.)

And to say peddlers of porn are slimballs and people like me are perverts is exactly the talk of Christians, which makes me doubt your sincerity that you might be gay and that instead you are a troll to come on to a gay forum to start trouble.

You might be hard pressed to get along well in a gay community with your narrow minded thinking, because when I lived in Portland, Oregon for a number of years anyone that was down on gay porn or called anyone a pervert was oust by the rest of the community and everyone had their suspicious on such persons. I was a member of the Pink Panthers and the Gay Liberation Front and anyone in those days that claimed they hated gay porn, the peddlers of it and called gay people perverts were labeled gay bashers and were delt with harshly by the Pink Panthers and GLF might start chanting to you. And word would travel across the community to beware of your presents.

You would not have survived Stonewall and would in fact have been labeled the enemy.

And in growing up in the west on a ranch I would have been whipped with a horse whip for talking back at my elders for calling them the names you called me.

And were I your age and you called me a pervert I might whip your ass myself as I was quite a fighter in my day and never afraid to fight either as I grew up tough fending for myself leaving home at sixteen riding freight trains and hoboing around the country living by my wits and taking no shit from anyone. I married at 21 to a lesbian friend and we were married for twenty five years battling "straights" when ever we went, never taking insults or name calling.

So you better be careful who you call names or who you put down as you might be labeled a troll and a spy from the "straight" community pretending to be gay.
