check out the band Raq, if you havent heard of em. they are all good musicians, they were recommended to me from a fellow phishhead and all around good musician i jam with often.
i really like their tunes....definitely more phishy than cheesy...very vermontish (which makes sense considering they are from vermont)....I wanted to check them out when they were in town a couple of weeks back but i was at wsp
they were the closing band at 10,000 lakes festival in 06.. i know i was there.. but i really dont remember anything
cool. ive been digging on them the past few days. you guys recommend any other bands with the same sound?
so many great bands it depends if you're more into the nat'l tour scene or somebody more on the local/regional scene. here's the "jamband" section of the music forum http://www.hipforums.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=254 its a vault of information
i just saw yonder for the first time the other night and i was blown away. fun stuff and the tickt prices were great.
yES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! those boys know how to get down and play some fun tunes. They can make my world melt like you wouldn't imagine, until they've melted your reality. they just turned 9 this labor day. I've been listening for about 8. Its been awesome to watch them grow. they sold out their first time ever headlining red rocks. jeff austin is the man.
Gimme some moe. Gimme some mule too... I've never really considered the Allman Brothers a Southern Rock band or a Jam band. I love them endlessly, they're alright guys who have had problems and are doing well these days. But they've always been a league of their own, to me, the pioneers that they were. I'd be hard pressed to find someone who could play through the bulky vintage equipment without a noisegate or compressor these days, much less someone who does not cover up everything with effects... People did not take Southeasterners too seriously until then in the music business. Since Duane is (was) in my sig, here is a Liz Reed solo by him... Same way with the Grateful Dead, though I guess in the 80s and building in complexity and adding MIDI, all the electronics and whatnot... they eventually did become one of the first jam bands as well, all of that good stuff we know already. I prefer my Phil concerts to my Bobby concerts, of course... I really do not think Bobby concerts are about the GD spirit. YEAH GO BOSTON.......... BOSTON 6, COLORADO FUCKING ZIP!!!! WE GOT SOX FEVER BABY!!!! Or some Keller. I've never really looked at him the same as the bigger names since he's always been more of a local guy, but he's getting pretty huge. I like his style. Also, his mom dances pretty viciously... Saw the WMDs five or so times this Summer. Nothing like some old school Gibb Droll Band. Aquarium Rescue Unit, Blues Traveler (because you know john popper played harp better when he was a fat man )... early nineties deal. PRIMUS!!!!!! Cause everyone loves Les wether they like to jam or not. Bela Fleck & The Flecktones...
^^^ Claypool + buckethead = amazing.... Green Lemon is an amazing jamband out of colorado.. seen them a few times.. fuckin great.. not a jamband.. but a must listen i believe for anyone.. Xavier Rudd.. something live.. perferably.. seeing him live... but audio works well.. 'roo '06 on archive is a great download... or watch a vid of him on youtube....you be more than impressed
Yeah, I ran into him in a shopping mall of all places, back a couple years ago... he was going for a stroll before evening shows during the tour he did with Mule. Xavier is the man. He's had a friend of his on drums touring with him lately and it has been killer.
^^^ yea.. his friend is good on the drums... the girl that opened for him on his last tour Serena Ryder was amazing.. best female vocals i have heard in some time.. she was quite original too
O yeah rock on Orsino2, I have pretty much identical tastes to you haha. What festivals do you attend? I know AllGood has quite a few acts playing, so I'll probably go next year
