In recent years marijuana has become a point of contention in the United States as its side effects have been weighed against its medicinal benefits and citizens have warred with the government in an attempt to change its illegal status. What many of these citizens do not realize is that, possible benefits aside, marijuana is still a drug.

People are actually fighting a war to stop people from smoking pot. It’s like the non-smokers of the world all rallied together and deemed smoking the work of the devil and now we’ll pass thousands of laws to prohibit the smoking of tobacco in public places. They’re limiting jobs to non-smokers, using hair follicle tests.

America was founded upon growing tobacco and various other industries. So now a couple of hundred years later, its frowned upon and attempted to be taken away. This is an outrage as we as Americans have a right to freedom. I just can’t see the freedom in limiting our smoking.

Furthermore, Marijuana wasn’t always illegal in America. If voters would remove their blindfolds regarding Marijuana and actually take a close look at the users of the drug, and then compared them to users of Alcohol. They would clearly conclude Alcohol is the more dangerous substance. Now, I’m not going to go on an anti-alcohol march here, as America was also founded on the production of hops, wines, and alcohols.

Growing Government Marijuana and taxing it would be a more efficient way of dealing with a multi-billion dollar illegal drug business in America. What I’m saying is to open it up. Allow people (with ID) to go to a store and purchase it. Tax the stuff! The government makes money, marijuana-users are happy, medical patients in need of marijuana will have easier access to it, and it will kill off the 1000’s of people going to prison everyday for a pity-marijuana crime.

The thing is that in america people just have a problem with any drug used for recreational use regardless of if it is truly unhealthy or not.

Think about Ecstasy, it became popular in 1984 in Texas and then about a year later the DEA made it illegal without ANY studies regarding the health aspects.

I believe that most anti-drug voices out there dont really care that much about the health aspect, they just dont like the idea of anyone getting high.

P.S Are you talking about tobacco or marijuana or both. Because there is a big differance. While i dont think either should be illegal, smoking tobacco IS bad for you

dude are you fucking serious, Ecstasy is bad for, proven to cause brain damage, and very easy to overdose.

Marijuana is proven to be a less harmful substance than alcohol, its jsut too many politicians drink alcohol

Dude, he wasn't saying it wasn't bad for you...he was just saying ectasy wasn't tested for medical studies by the DEA.

Anyway, I'm all for it being legalized...the only thing I'm worried about is how will the Gov't mandate it with thousands of dealers out there growing it. I'd keep going to my dealer probably so the Gov't might not be able to make any money off it. But I bet a lot of "Weed Bars' or somethign like that would open up...so in the end maybe they will make money. Because the gov't wont do anything in less they get something out of it. [IMG]

dude, ecstasy in my opinion, people should be put for years in prison for usage of Ecstasy, but Marijuana and Mushrooms should be legal for home cultivation and in legal coffeeshops

what is the diffrence between thizz and weed?
    that is so hypocritical
ecstasy is a drug just like marijuana, both of these drugs have some sort of adverse effect on the user (you cant deny inhaling smoke is bad) and no effect on anyone else
so why should someone be thrown in jail for thizz but not bud?

because E pills kill people and you can overdose. I dont know one person who has overdosed on marijuana but tons of cases for E. It has pyschological effects on the person many days after. They contain tons of foriegn chemicals including meth so I think they are a lil more serious then a plant that grows naturally

In my opinion, we should legalize it. You can overdose on Alcohol. If X was government regulated, there would be no adulterants like meth in it. I can't really argue the pyschological effects as I have never tried X but I'm sure they are not serious if you are using the substance with relative respect, there conquences should not be too severe. I guess I just think most things should be legal. I perfer people having the right to choose. Feel free to debunk my ideas, my knowledge is limited and I'm sure if something I said sounds wrong then it probably is.

In moderation, alcohol (say one, two glasses of beer or a glass of wine) has positive health effects. But if you drink just to get drunk then damage will eventually happen, just like if you only smoke marijuana to get high. One, two joints a day won't harm you.
