Threads like these are why I love you people! A lot of things make me happy when I'm feelin sad. Usually I go for a walk and just admire nature's beauty, and then listen to some good music. I also get extremely happy when I listen to alot of Bob Dylan stuff.. I usually end up dancing around and singing at the top of my lungs too, which is always fun. And I think one of the things that makes me happiest is walking barefoot in the rain. There's just something so beautiful about it.
That description you gave sounded like the script for a crappy movie on the Lifetime Network. They always have women sitting around crying and eating ice cream and whatnot.
Some of us have a sadness that cannot be lifted. We just have to try and believe there is something out there.
when i am feeling low my favorite pick me up cd is string cheese incident - round the wheel ( esp # 3 ) - "sometimes it feels like such a hard life ..... but there's good times around the bend!" i t just reminds me of good times and i loose sight of whatever is bugging me. I also think of different shows that i have been to and one's that are coming soon, because a good concert is like therapy for me.
listening to music, playing music, writing music !! Listening to bob's "Three little birds" helps... "Don't worry about a thing, because every little thing is gonna be alright"! Crying helps because once you've cried all those tears you have them out of the way and you can see the problem more clearly. Smiling. Eating chocolate, Remembering times where you've laughed your arse off, Helping people Sleeping (things seem so much worse when you're tired) Singing going for walks, talking to the trees/animals, Meditating, Forcing yourself to laugh, and then you realise how stupid you sound, so you laugh more. Talking to someone
The Mamas and the Papas always pick me up because when I put on their record, it's as if Mama Cass is right here in the room with me telling me to eat all the ice cream I want. Taking walks always helps because you just can't help smiling back at nature. It's such a beautiful thing after all, and it helps to know that I'm connected to such beauty. Oddly enough, Drew Barrymore movies always help (except her Charlie's Angels movies).
