how much does appearance matter?

i've been trying to answer this question since i was a child, but havent found a proper sincere answer...

smtimes it seems to be very important

with some ppl i dont even pay attention to appearance at all....

then again i fall for looks only....


so i just thought about learning your opinions

Yes that too, but it has to do with appearance.

 

I think it matters just as first impressions, once you get to really know the person it becomes irrelevant.

 

I think outer beauty matters alot to those who first meet but I believe it looses its strength when time kicks in. You need more that just image for something real or else you would just desire to move on to more and more good looking people.

What is amazing is how people age too. I mean I know some people back in my HS days that were not attractive at all but in later years they were very attractive and ones that were attractive in my HS years are kinda pound puppies now so....

Summary, outward beauty is great but it is short lived, find a person that ignites your soul and holds you voluntarily captive.

 

I was blessed, born ugly grew up ugly and stayed ugly so Im pretty lucky no suprises!

true. Its all about the inside beauty.

 

I think appearance matters to some degree; but its not the most important. Unless someone is pretty enough to fall in love with or so ugly it remains distracting during a conversation. But those are the extremes only.

 

appearance doesn't matter at all to me. its who you are inside that counts not what you look like. in any case appearance would only matter if youre unhapppy with yourself than i would say to do whatever you can to like yourself. personally i believe everyone is beautiful on the outside the difference is on inside!

 

Well beauty on the outside is a matter of taste, some people like it others don't. For inner beauty there's not much a matter of taste. If you're nice pretty much everyone will like it.

 

I dont think that physical appearances are important at all in the long run. It is the soul that you should be attracted to, not the body.

^agreeing with that but wanting to add that you can tell when someone likes the way they look and show confidence.... just as you can tell the opposite and it does effect the personality.

 

I personally think that a lot of you are full of shit.

Appearance matters. Looks matter. It's something biological, something that's within us. We are naturally more attracted towards attractive people.

I could meet a fat girl with a wonderful personality, but I still wouldn't even touch her with a stick... because she's fat.

I will not settle for personality without good looks. I want the best of both worlds.

 

it kind of depends really. like people already said, it can be short-lived in personal relationships, but that depends on how superficial the people in the relationship are. then again, it can be everything too. think about 80% of the rich and famous women out there, and what direction their lives would have gone if they looked like cows. for people like that, appearance is easily the most important thing in there lives

 

Gotta agree with BSR, looks do matter. Physical beauty without inner beauty is useless in the long term, but no matter how much inner beauty one has I have to have that physical attraction to go beyond friends.

 

If you don't mind, it don't matter.
