I had posted this link in an answer to another thread, but figured I'd make it a thread of it's own since so many people are curious. PS - I'm at 11 months tomorrow!! wooooooo time flies when you're having fun. http://com3.runboard.com/bknottydre...forum.f13.t7951 3 months 6 months 10 months
Wow! You really have come a long way, but you started with beautiful dreads to begin with! anyways, do you think crochet hooks could be used to put two little dreadies together??
thanks roji. off course, that's what i did to some of mine... grab the 2 dreads you want to join stick the crochet hook through the top of both dreads wrap loose hairs around crochet hook pull hook back through BOTH dreads keep sticking it back through until the loose hair you were first working with is too short to be pulled through anymore repeat this process as you move down the 2 dreads and eventually they will grow together here is a pic of 2 of mine i crocheted together that became one..
i agree lucy its enough work to seperate em every few weeks sothey dont grow together too much. let alone crochetting so they do..lol i got a bunch that ended up growin together cause didnt wanna bother pullin em apart ya know tho, the funny thing is, if ya never crocheted em, they'd probly look pretty much just like they do now by now. most dreadsare pretty tight & mature by 11 months, wether ya spend 8 hours a day fussin over em, or u just do nothing at all..
i like the flaws in mine. sometimes the loose hairs drive me nuts, but only cause they tickle since i'm not used to having them anymore. but i do like the paint demo. every demo should be drawn in paint
agreed lucy. im too lazy to even rip mine apart when they eat each other (which is constantly) i bribe my friend to do it every month or so. forget rolling and especially crocheting. i have friends who work on them all the time though and ask me to crochet them. so to each their own i guess. i just dont care much about my hair. its just hair and i let mine do whatever it wants as long as its not uncomfortable (like growing together). nice of you to post this though, kattoo haha i like the last comment on the thread
pfffft, 8 hours?? far from it lol. more like here and there when i'm bored. no more trouble than palm rolling (which i haven't done in ages), at least not for me. it's really not difficult once you get the hang of it, unless of course you're a complete idiot. of course some people choose to go neglect, others don't. that's what's great about having our own choices. i sense that you are one of those self-righteous people all in the name of going "natural" or "non-maintenance" (btw, ripping IS maintenance). this thread was meant for people who DO have an interest in crocheting and may have questions. if this doesn't fit your style..move on brother.
hahahahaha wow you actually had to post in both these threads? I wont even bother repeating myself in my defence. Everyone here knows what i meant....it seems they all agreed with me anyhow. stop taking personal offence over someones opinion on the internet. i wasn't dissin' on your dreads or your method. calm down. you have beautiful hair. whatever works for you works for you. shit.
by the way, for the sake of saying i participated in this inanity can i emphasize that i said "MOSTLY JUST LEAVING THEM ALONE"? lord!
no need for any of this tbh, were here for the love of dreads and to give advice, so what if 2 things lucy said, so just isnt the place, now lets just say lucy has amazing dreads and kattoo as some gr8 phattys! jobs a gooden
geez defnsive.. 8 hours 8 minutes whats it matter all i was sayin is its wasted effort..youd still be right where yaare today not tellin u that u shouldnt do it just sayin u dont need to.. most dreads by 11 months u couldnt force a needle thru let alone a crochet hook anyway.. i wasnt tryin to discourage u..(and i did like that u graphicly explained it) all i was sayin is its wasted effort cause u still end up around the same placearound the same time.. a few hairds tucked hear or there does not affect the outcome whatsoever.
