A good friend of mine introduced me to her fiancée today, he seemed like a nice enough guy but a feeling in my gut told me otherwise. I was quite frightened of him, and if he was to return I believe I'd still be scared. Is this instinct, could he really be that bad that I got a vibe from him that scared me? or am I just a loon........ Anyone else get this and what should I do?
you could be on to something, but I find intuition to be slightly less reliable than, say, wikipedia.
Usually your gut feelings are influenced by your past. Maybe he reminds you of someone in your past. It doesn't even have to be something obvious? Maybe he reminds you of a bond villain. Either way, I say give the guy a chance. Nobody needs to be discriminated against just for resembling Blofeld.
Fuck him, that's what I say. What do you have to gain by giving him a chance? What do you lose? Possible pain. I go with my gut on people and it usually works.
Intuition plays a great part in life, but be cautious about making a snap judgement. You might be picking up on his or her nervous vibes about meeting you, or on the vibes of someone else involved in their life - like an ex gf/bf/whatever. For sure intuition can play a great part in assessing someones suitiability, but give the feeling time to develop and see what happens. So many people have dismissed opportunities or broken relationships up thru a gut instinct that they later found to be misdirected or overplayed. Sometimes that gut instinct comes out as a means of self-protection, sometimes it comes from anothers defensiveness. It isn't always right. Meet them in a group and spend a few nights and weeks just enjoying the shared company with no thought as to your fear, and then see what happens.
I’ve meet people who I’ve had an immediate dislike for, but I was never scared. My dislike is undoubtedly tribal, and it's origin - ancient h
I don't dislike him though, that isn't the problem... I'm dead scared of the dude, I flinched when he extended his hand to shake mine. I really am quite unsure of why, I've never had this problem before....
He strokes a cat and threatens to kill bond a lot? Or maybe he loves gold. I dunno what to tell you if you've never experienced anything like that before. Does anything about him you can place seem foreign or devious?
Cloud flower, FYI, you are so refreshingly gorgeous. I was looking through your gallery and it reminds me so much of Idaho, I am enamoured. Thanks darling.
Well thanks, perhaps all I need is resassurance on a total different level. I've kinda pulled together that maybe I should just get to know him better a perhaps my fear will subside.
All you can do is stand by your friend and never be afraid to answer the phone in the middle of the night if she calls you and is in trouble. It might be a sign of something deeper that she isn't telling you about him or his past or whatever, it might be him trying to protect his own interests in her and her attention or it might be nothing. Stand by her, be a friend for her if she needs it, and never be afraid of spending a lot of one on one chic time with her.
