i agree with an above post-i was thinking this-
if we get a shitload of people from here to go,(plus a huge number of real hippies not from this board that hear about WS 09 from word of mouth), we can help to keep things peaceful there.
all i know is: me and my father are so on board with this if it goes down.

and i also agree that choice in bands help.
a lot of bands from the 99 woodstock clearly didnt stand for what hippies believe in. they were just loud noise, and loud noise that encited (sp??) riots.

and if this DOES happen, i hope to meet so many of you people there:).

^ I hope yall enjoy listening to friggin top 40 radio music :p

while I agree that those in attendance contribute to the energy, the attendance is selected by the music that is put on the stage and the vendors at the festival.

Like I said before, you don't need a festival to be called woodstock or fuckin woodstock 2 or 3 to make it be chill! There are so many local festivals that are everything woodstock was and then some!

it's just, there are NONE by me...:/.

and my dad just agreed with us- why bring agressive bands into the act? he said "might as well ask insane clown posse to perform there", but we're still planning on going in hopes that they'll tighten the loose bolts in their skulls and bring in the bands that fit the festival.
it's either going to be a fantastic time, or a bad ordeal.
but i'm willing to find out-no need missing out on a great festival, you never know:).

it wasn't the aggressive music. aggressive music if fine.
it was POP music that created the chaos. there are dozens of heavy metal festivals every year and there is never riots, or fires or anything.
heavy metal fans are elitists, just like jam band fans. they wont do something destructive just because a band eggs them on.
but at a POP festival the fans are sheep, they follow the main stream and will do what ever a band tells them to do. if they tell their fans to fuck shit up, they will. if they tell their fans to reduce emissions, and help global warming, they will... for like a week.

POP music is evil and manipulative, and always will be.

that's true. I was referring to pop music. I've been to several metal concerts much to the chagrin of my more mainstream friends and have never had an issue. Though I did almost get knocked the fuck out by a stray punch at the edge of a mosh pit, but that was my own fault.

EDIT: moongazer where you at? I can link you to some fests

    oh, pease do!!lol.

ahh. i went to a mosh pit. me and my friends were pretty beaten up.haha!
but see, the bands were like "everyone, beat the shit out of eachother!" next thing i know, i'm getting punched, shoved, my hair's being ripped out of my head, i'm falling down,etc.,etc.
and i didnt JUST mean aggressive bands. it's just...non-jam bands/non-hippie bands in general that can do this.

I think that this whole idea of a new Woodstock is disgusting. Greedy corporations are just making money off of this.

I've never liked Woodstock much to begin with, but it has a great legacy and it actually means something to a lot of people.

Re-making it with semi-decent bands and Clear Channel sponsored messages of peace and love is disgusting.

    Remember the last Woodstock re-make?

It is for real. Michael Lang, promoter of Woodstock '69 says he has been planning an event for the 40th anniversary. At the very least, it should be on the original Bethel, NY site. Tickets should be free, issued by random drawings. Expenses should be paid for with corporate donations which would only give them credit for the donations but NO other influence on the event.

Does it have anything to do with Woodstock '99?
Cuz from what I hear that sucked.
But I would like to go if it's a good, peaceful, groovy thing.
