ok, so he should just still try and group them together in dreads while growing, right? Lol, he's gonna be pissed to find this out, but I'm sure he'll manage. He'll probably just say like "screw 'em, I'll try it anyway" lol, I told him about the wax and he said he still wants to use the was, he's just gonna use a very small amount. he just doesn't wanna accept the fact that his hair is too short. But for me now, I read that you should only wash your hair once a week at most, and doing it that much is even too much, but my ahir tends to get greasy after just a couple days. I'm sure I could manage once week at most, but anything beyond that my hair will be a greasy mess. Won't the grease just lubircate the hair making it harder to knot up? One last question for now (I promise), will sweating help make my hair lock? I hear that the ocean is good because the salt water helps your hir knot up, and I think that salty sweat would help too, especially since I sweat easily. Sorry about soo many questions, I just wannado this stuff right right away to get the best results.
to help with the greasy scalp, it helps to slowly work towards once a week. if you wash everyday, start washing every other day until it's "comfortable?" and slowly progress.
^that's what I did... I started washing everyday and then worked my way down to about twice a week. Was a natural progression. Everyone is different with different skin/hair types so you gotta just find a routine that works for *you*.
ok, thanks! My stuff got here just today so it will all happen on monday. I will try to take some pics of it. Another q (yes, yet another), I read yesterday that you should keep backcombing your hair like everyday for the first month or so to help it get on it's way. Ill assume it's true, but will this be easy to do on my own? I know I won't be able to get any one to do it for me more than a couple times, but since it's already set up, it should be easy to do, right?
Dude, backcomb your hair really well once. If you do it again, it will fuck your dreads up and basically restart them.
ok, now I'm counting down the days! 2 1/2! I would do it now but I want a full day dedicated to it and sunday is the only open day.
well i was like you m8, i had llong hair ( mid of my back ) and it was perfectly straight! if you keep washing ur hair once a week eventualy ur head will sort it self out meaning producing more or less oils so it wont be so greasy so fast, and what i did is after the 1st backcambing i used a lil bit of wax although its not needed so this pic is my perfect straight hair after 1 month of dreads, only pall ralling salt water and washing once a week ps. when has beads been used for ghetto looks ^^ bead up m8 they make dreads look even better
=D I got my dreads in! sorry, no pictures yet though. The camera that I normally use is broken, and the other one is an old film one that according to my dad, doesn't work as it should anymore. Hope to get some soon! BTW nice dreads ^^^
Yep, even though my newborns are only 3 days old now I aldready love how cool mine look! But something doesn't seem right in my scenario. Most people sell me that your hair will shrink to about half of it's length. But mine didn't seem to get shorter at all. Maybe just a little bit. Would that be just because my hair is curly and is only seened shorter than it really was and now it's straight?

Oh and I think I should mention that I will be adding beadss to my hair, it's just the only one I have right now is fuckning massive and looks stupid in my hair.
i didnt lose any length when i backcombed my hair hun. 4 months later i woke up and they had tightened and shrunk by about 2 inches (my hair is shoulder length) it was the fairies whilst i was asleep! yours might shrink, it might not, its all good!
'Shrinkage' seems to be a result of ends finally knotting and getting sucked up. When this happens probably depends on your maintainence I lost about two inches when I took the felting needle to my ends. LoL Now it looks like I have a dready mullet 'cause my front ends are all done up tight and my back is long and barely knotted.
lol, ok then. Every day everyone is commenting about how much better my dreads are looking each day. I am now heroes to 2 people. Everyone wants to touch my hair now.
